I tried commenting on an article for the first time today. When i went to sign up and agree to the terms a window said in red letters "The username violates our guidelines"...

my username is my first and last name so I don't understand why I'm seeing this. There is no option to dispute on screen https://account.microsoft.com/profile?ocid=msedgntp

Hello, I am a Democrat and it is doing the same thing to me. I don't think it is an attack on your party choice. That being said I was wondering what else we all have in common with are accounts. People use their real name all the time so I don't think that is it. On the other hand my account is quite old, in fact it is a Hotmail account. I wonder if maybe that is it.

This is literally the only way to get around this? Is this a bug or something?

All I see is this with absolutely now help in how to fix it. And this doesn't even make sense?

"This is the name from your Microsoft account. It will appear next to any of your posts." Right? I assume my "Name" is supposed to be where that blank under my picture is? So it seems like it's blank? It seems like everything is filled out on my page. All I wanted to do was to like someone's comments. It shouldn't be this hard.

Thank you for posting back,I tried to find the rule of MSN's naming method, but I didn't get the appropriate answer.I think the first and last name should not be forbidden by the rule, maybe it's a bug and I also sent a feedback to MSN and ask them to make the naming rule clearly and repair the bug(if it is).

    Best Regards,

Thanks for posting a screenshot of what I see as well. At least it lets me know it's not me, it's MSFT. Now if only we could get the right person (or for that matter any person) at MSFT to notice.
