make Windows 11 photo thumbnails larger than extra large in file explorer

Now using Windows 11. When I open File Explorer to view photo thumbnails and set the view to Extra Large, it is not any larger than when I set the view to Large. The only difference between Large and Extra Large is that the spacing between thumbnails gets larger -- not the photo itself.
My laptop is still on Windows 10, and Extra Large view there is much larger than the Large view setting.
Can you help?

2022-01-04T18:06:14+00:00 Sorry to report that my Extra Large view of photos in File Explorer is still the same as the Large view. Only difference is that the white space between the photos in Extra Large is, in fact, larger than the white space between the photos in the Large view. No difference in the actual photo itself.

2022-04-15T11:31:58+00:00 I have the same issue on windows 10 Dell XPS 15 and i was hoping that windows 11 solved this issue. Shame on you microsoft.
It only happens with high screen resolutions like 4k. Its a windows explorer issue since windows 10. The tumbnail size cant be larger than 256 pixels. It looks just fine and big enough (with the right spacing also) in 1080p resolution. But in 4k resolutions the thumbnail itself remains 256pixels (too small for 4k screens) so the white spacing between thumbnails becomes huge and stupid.
Down here i upload 2 print-screen images in 4k, one of weird windows explorer 256px max thumbnails and tons of not needed white spacing.
And also the thumbnails from Acdsee application 800pixel thumbnails and how well they resolve the grid view.
Microsoft **** are you waiting for? How many years we have to wait for a stupid fix?
Even the MacOS shows amazingly huge thumbnails. Its such a pleasure to work.
We need at least 512px thumbnails. Best would be 800pixels.
MOVE, MOVE. DO IT.

I do a lot of photo/video work and icons are too small at largest setting to effectively work with. Bummer.
Screen specs: 16" 16:10, 2560 x 1600
Largest landscape photo icons are 1" wide...ugh!
Please, MS, fix this!

2022-03-16T10:15:18+00:00 The issue relates to a max icon width in Windows 10/11 and only becomes a problem with very high resolution displays. Lower the resolution and the Extra Large Icons behave as before. This is a hardwired limitation within Windows that the devs will hopefully resolve shortly.
