Downgrade from windows 11 to windows 10 after 10 days without losing data.

Hi:

I finally got my new win 10 which I saved as I was going to install it in my old laptop and I didn't get a chance to. I bought a new laptop a few months ago,, ==, which had windows 10 but automatically updated to windows 11. I did not particularly like windows 11 and I tried doing it on the laptop. It was way past 7 days so I decided to use the new windows 10 that I bought and installed it. I messed u p somewhat and wiped out all of my files. Mistakes can cost. At least now I have windows 10 bavk,

This form is not "microsoft". Most of us are unpaid volunteers, users like yourself. There are a few low level MS staff, and some paid MS contractors (user volunteers). But the "microsoft" decision makers you are addressing ignore this forum.

The specific MS style answer is you need to know what you don't know you need to know (suitably confusing to be written by MS). Before you "upgrade" to Win11, you need to know that you can extend the default 10 day limit, before it expires https://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-11-give-yourself-more-time-to-roll-back-the-upgrade/ If you know that, you can act proactively to avoid the 10 day limit problem. If you don't know it, "tough noogies". Your wasted time is not MS's problem.

The “Answers” forum / community is “staffed” mostly by users like yourself, unpaid volunteers. This forum is intended more for “How to do something in application A” type questions. We sometimes can provide work-arounds for problems, but we can’t do anything about underlying problem. For a couple of years now MS has had a "feedback" process that allows users submit bug reports / problems, suggestions and new feature requests directly to MS developers and managers. A MS download page oops’d and gave the same name to both the 32 and 64 bit download files. After feedback, they relatively instantly fixed the problem. Yes, file names on a download page are a trivial example, but a win is a win.

There is also a new web based “Feedback Portal” in development. It is still labelled “Preview”. It provides functionality similar to the feedback hub. Access to feedbacks submitted in 34+ categories.

I was talking to an Excel MS developer whose job does include monitor feedback submissions.  He says that the more specific you are about the problem, how to recreate it, what you see, what you expect to see, screen captures etc , the more likely they are to act on it, and maybe even try to contact you.

Depending on which of the contact channels you use, you sometimes have a (hidden) option to include contact info (your email). Like this forum, their system automagically strips out emails included in the feedback. So if you want to embed your email in the feedback, like in this forum, break it up ie

As users we are unpaid quality control testers, we identify bugs, they pick which feedbacks they will work on, and when they will release them, for testing by Insiders and to general public.

But don't "expect" anything like feedback about your feedback back from MS. The most you can expect is to see that MS has updated the feedback “Status”

Hint: get a “share” link to your feedback (may take a couple of minutes to process the initial submission of the feedback) and post the link back to this question. That way if someone finds this question they will be able to link directly to your feedback so they can vote for it and add their comments. How to get a feedback acted on?

Basically, you have to get the attention of someone in MS who likes the idea and becomes its champion. This article is an example showing how “Flash Fill” came to be.

Your feedback is your “Elevator Pitch” or in this case co-incidental conversation with a MS employee. You have to catch their attention and give them enough information to carry on with your idea/complaint

The key takeaway in this article was “About two hours after Needham reported the issue, Google notified users on its support page that it was investigating the issue.” And they fixed the problem before the magazine was able to confirm the problem existed.  In other words, Google is infinitely faster at responding to feedback than MS, even at it’s best!
