This change worked for me, thank you.
Windows 11 Screensaver / Display Sleep functions not working
A few weeks ago, I can't remember exactly when it occurred (May have been after installing W11) my screensaver and display sleep functions just completely stopped working. I have tried every trick in the book. I have updated my BIOS and chipset drivers. Powercfg -requests shows an audio stream running from realtek, I tried overriding it but didn't solve anything. I confirmed every power option setting is correctly enabled. Basically I've spent extensive time googling and troubleshooting this to no avail.
The one thing that did fix it was running the DISM restore commands in CMD Prompt, however, it only works temporarily for the initial reboot after running that command, and then it stops working again if I reboot a 2nd time.
What can I do to fix this problem?

Thanks for reaching out here at Microsoft Community.
It sounds like your Windows 11 Screensaver / Display Sleep functions not working. The following steps could be applied to troubleshoot:
- Confirm the power option has been set to allow the computer to sleep.
- Hold down Windows + R to launch RUN > Type: regedit and hit Enter > locate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\desktop\ScreenSaveActive, and create this string if there is no ScreenSaveActive. > Right click on it, and edit the key valule to 1.
- Hold down Windows+X to run Windows PowerShell (Administrator), and execute the following commands respectively in sequence:
sfc /SCANNOW
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth
Allow the process to finish and see if it solves any issues. Restart the device afterward.
(Apply this method several times to see the effect.)
- If the problem is still there, you could consider to perform an in-place update on your system to upgrade/repair the system (this is a non-destructive repair of the system, which is different from reinstalling the system. Normally, installed applications remain the same and update the system to the latest version.)
- Click hereto download the installation media.
- After the creation tool is created, go to Settings > Windows Update, and select Check for updates. (it is recommended to back up important data to avoid data loss)
Note:
- Your system disk may require 15-20G of free space (similar to upgrading to Windows 10)
- If the system is installed in an unsupported directory or under other abnormal conditions, it may not be able to be repaired without damage.
Let us know if you need any further assistance, we will be glad to assist you. Wishing you a happy new year!

Step 1 shows a "power options/advanced settings" screen that I have no idea how to get to. I'm using a Microsoft Surface 8 running Windows 11 Home v22H2 and the closest thing I can get to is "Setting>System>Power & Battery>Screen and Sleep" which does not have anything close to that setting.
