How to Cancel Windows 11 update?

I'm one of the people who had Windows 11 download itself without me telling it to do so. Now, it is ready for install. I do not want to install Windows 11 at this point. I want to keep my Windows 10.

I've paused it for 7 days, but this is a temporary solution. Can I delete the Windows 11 download somehow? I'm running Windows 10 on a brand new Dell computer.

    One more quick question if you don't mind: How did you type in EXACTLY 21h2? With the lower case 'h' or an upper case 'H'?

    Upper case "H".

    Yes it will. After you finish the process go to Windows Updates (where you usually check for updates on Windows 10) and it will offer you an update to Windows 11 or stay with 10. Just click on stay with Windows 10 and its a done deal. It worked for me. I couldnt believe it was that simple but it worked. Dont forget to run your updates for Windows 10 just in case you lost some updates when you back dated your computer.

    Hi, Portland. By now you've had your answer, but yes, it was capital H in 21H2. Don't know why I used lower case in some of my comments. Just laziness, I guess. Glad you got clarification. Have you received the updates yet? It's funny, but my husband runs 4 computers, all on Windows 10 21H1. So far only 2 have been offered the update to 21H2. There doesn't seem to be much pattern to when it gets offered. As with my two computers, the update went smoothly and quickly.

    Hi Lynn,

    I am making the registry change today. As soon as I get the update for the new version 21H2, I'll post back and let you know!

    I think the rollout is just rather slow at times to certain computers. Let me know when your Husband gets his update.

    Once again, you have been my inspiration for tackling this horrible issue with Windows 11. :)
