How to Cancel Windows 11 update?

I'm one of the people who had Windows 11 download itself without me telling it to do so. Now, it is ready for install. I do not want to install Windows 11 at this point. I want to keep my Windows 10.

I've paused it for 7 days, but this is a temporary solution. Can I delete the Windows 11 download somehow? I'm running Windows 10 on a brand new Dell computer.

    OK now I understand, in my case would be like buying a new pc built 2 years ago.

    The only question is: does the edit group policy work for sure? Otherwise a lot of work for nothing.

    Now that you have clarified, that might work. You are talking about a system restore in a way right? Going all the way back?

    I'm hoping that works for you.

    I read about trying to do a system restore to get rid of Windows 11 installing. People did it. Windows 11 popped up again.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

    When I talked of rollback I meant reinstallation of the DELL initial configuration, which should be without any glitch, after which I could put again as target the 21H1 before even connecting to internet and hopefully this should stop the 11 download.

    I do not understand why you say this should give a lot of trouble.

    I was going to come back to you and add that in my humble non-tech opinion you will be asking for a boat load of computer issues if you take the advice and upgrade to the newer version of Windows 10 Pro while you have the monster installation of Windows 11 barking at your door waiting for the install.

    Don't do that. I've read way too many articles and posts on what goes wrong while trying to tweak this issue of Windows 11 and even more, if you let Windows 11 install and then 'roll it back' to Windows 10. That doesn't work as you can go back to Windows 10, with the risk of losing a ton of data, only to have Windows 11 pop up again for installation.

    You have two choices: 1) keep pausing until you are ready to install Windows 11. Then commit and deal with whatever comes to fruition. I do know that many people are running it with no issues.

    1. Let Windows 11 install and skip all the pausing. It is stressful.

    Thanks to you and Sumit for the reply.

    I am very angry with microshift, I do not have the time to go behind its ****, now win10 is working and I do not want to change to 11 because there is the high risk somw sw will not afterwards. To force the installation of 21h1, I am not sure it will work since now it has 11 ready and no 21... and again I do not want to risk to waste time after something is wrong. Maybe I will wait like you say the 24 Jan to delay the ****, but only another 4 weeks; or maybe I let it go and then I recover completely to original configuration, but this is another 2 days of work. Someone should sue microshift for not asking permission to do this kind of **** to customers.

    A few months ago I was forced to remove the innocuous pgp10 which I used only as single file encryption, ridiculously it said it is incompatible with 20H1. Very angry
