How to Cancel Windows 11 update?

I'm one of the people who had Windows 11 download itself without me telling it to do so. Now, it is ready for install. I do not want to install Windows 11 at this point. I want to keep my Windows 10.

I've paused it for 7 days, but this is a temporary solution. Can I delete the Windows 11 download somehow? I'm running Windows 10 on a brand new Dell computer.

    As soon as possible or as late as I could put it off. But then it keeps popping back up. It also happened twice just by turning my computer off for the night.

    Also, I've taken Wndows 11 off twice by following another set of instructions. Within a week or so, I was asked when I wanted to update to Windows 11. Argh! Hope it is now taken care of.

    The reason I don't want this update is that it "killed" my PrintMaster Gold 16, which has so many of my projects. Plus I use it almost every day.

    Mary, I am afraid there is no other way other than to use a GPO which I mentioned on page 1 of this thread. (link to the post).

    Maybe a Reset of Windows 10 install help, but I don't see a reason to Reset when adding certain bits in the registry do the job for you.

    I followed all of the steps you gave.

    I will know if this worked if I don't get a request to update to Windows 11.

    Is this a question?

    Postponing updates, also postpones security updates, and there have been a number of critical ones the last few days, so that's not a solution.

    And if you upgrade and revert back to Windows 10, Windows Update IMMEDIATELY starts the process of downloading and upgrading to Windows 11 again. So that's not a solution either.

    So far, the solution I posted previously is the only one I've found to work. I have used it on two computers, and they're doing fine. If you have any questions, about the process, feel free to ask them.

    *EDIT: My procedure is for when you can't postpone - either because you want security updates, or because you reverted back to Windows 10.

    If you still can postpone, Rodrigo Quieroz' method should work fine.*
