How to Cancel Windows 11 update?

I'm one of the people who had Windows 11 download itself without me telling it to do so. Now, it is ready for install. I do not want to install Windows 11 at this point. I want to keep my Windows 10.

I've paused it for 7 days, but this is a temporary solution. Can I delete the Windows 11 download somehow? I'm running Windows 10 on a brand new Dell computer.

    I did this as well as the registry edit, and I chanagted the registry edit to match my 22H2

    i do NOT want Windows 11

    as others have said I spent thousands of dollars on Adobe photoshop with updates to CS6 and it infuriates me that they're trying force us to their subscriptions now!

    also what happened to the good old days where you could install whatever operating systsem you wanted

    **** like this makes me want to switch to LINUX

    I have Windows 10 HOME edition. If you ever have 3 months of time and read this entire thread, if you just follow the steps, it will solver your problem.

    Don't overthink it as this is a tried and true solution that has been out a very long time and used 100% successfully with everyone who did it.

    You are simply preventing the download of Windows 11.

    However, if you are uncomfortable then just go with Windows 11.

    Turned out bits is used for downloading. I'd rather not disable it since it may be used for Defender and other necessary downloads. I don't follow steps blindly, unless they're official steps from MSFT R&D. I need to know what these actions do.

    Yeah, I'm convinced that disabling wuauserv on the command line is the same as disabling it from the Services menu or the Task Manager. Problem is somethig is waking up this process. I disable it, and it's fine - disabled, but then I come back and check, and it's on again (but in manual mode which is hopefully ok). I found another setting: Recovery on failure, I've disabled that, and I'm going to see what's going to happen. I hope this is the (only) culprit.

    There may be some differences between your OS and mine. I have the Home edition, and I believe you have Pro. If so, then the behavior could be different, Pro allows the user a little more control. Those of us who have Home are at the mercy of the evil empire.
