Bluetooth disappeared (Windows 11)

Update: Resolved issue by disconnecting PC from power (unplugging from wall) for 10 minutes and then restarting. Baffling.

Bluetooth services disappeared several weeks ago and I've been trying to get it back. Here's what I've found so far:

  • Bluetooth troubleshooter couldn't solve it
  • Restarting Bluetooth Services - I have done this, and have set all to start automatically however BluetoothUserService_5aacd will not allow me to move it from Manual to Automatic, I get a "The parameter is incorrect" error
  • I uninstalled and reinstalled the BT drivers, which did not fix the issue
  • I have uninstalled Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) within Device Manager, and restarted computer, which reinstalled the Intel BT but did not fix the issue (note: my Device Manager is constantly refreshing/ flashing, unsure if related)

EDIT: I was able to update BluetoothUserSErvice to start automatically at start up, correcting the "parameter is incorrect error". This did not resolve my bluetooth problem.

Hi ADP,

Sharing my experience with the hope that it helps others resolve their bluetooth issue as well. My bluetooth had disappeared suddenly without any cause or reason and it did not come back by reinstalling the device drivers, or resetting the bluetooth services, or by trying a lot of other solutions. Bluetooth had disappeared from Device Manager and replaced with a mystery USB device. Nothing seemed to bring it back.

Eventually what worked is to shut down the laptop completely and disconnect the power cable and kept it shut for about 10 minutes before starting it up again. (make sure it is fully shut down and not sleep and not restarted)

Laptop : Asus zendesk with Windows 11 Pro 21H2 (updated to the latest fixes). Uses Intel Wireless Bluetooth drivers.

    I suspect that your solution might have worked for me. Thanks for taking time to post here.

    When I investigated Device Manager, I remember seeing an unknown device under USB controllers as you mentioned. I did not suspect that it was related to my disappeared Bluetooth icon and did not want to troubleshoot some separate problem. I ignored this during the solution of my Bluetooth issue.

    This unknown device remained during my subsequent visits to Device Manager while trying to solve my missing Bluetooth. I have not checked back since until now. I see that this unknown device is now gone.

    Hi there,

    [To spread awareness about this problem, I described my experience below:]

    I just had similar issue where my system showed a blue screen out of nowhere and after rebooting itself I couldn't access bluetooth anymore.

    I started by following https://www.makeuseof.com/windows-11-missing-bluetooth/ but without any success (I was unable to do step 3.2 -> Go to Devices and click on More Bluetooth Settings)

    I then restarted my system. This once again didn't help.

    Finally, I turned off the pc entirely (as suggested in the thread) and it worked so thank you.

    TL:DR:

    After uninstalling Huawei drivers and forcefully shutting down PC, bluetooth works again [FOR NOW].

    I followed your solution:

    1. I run into troubles turning on the "Memory integrity", so after some googling I found the solution on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows11/comments/wolpue/comment/ikfwkxr/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
    2. Couldn't remove "ew_usbccgpfilter.sys" so (once again) after googling I followed this advice:

    1. For the changes to take action I restarted my PC

    [Extra step] 4. After rebooting I unplugged the power cord and turn the PC off as some people on here suggested. During booting up I forced the shutdown by long-pressing power button and after waiting for some time I turned it back on.

    Problem resolved FOR NOW.
