Window 11 taskbar auto-hide turning off

Okay, I rarely ever turn off my main pc. It's always in sleep mode. So when it happened to me, I got frustrated and that's how I found your post. Maybe they did fix it. I've been having issues with updates because of cFos and Turbolan, so I'm not sure if I'm up-to-date. So hopefully there was a fix. It was very annoying, because I'd just restart my pc each time. Thanks for the reply, take care. And definitely let us know if the problem persists. I'll reply if I encounter an issue that behaves more like your original post.

Just wanted to expand on my previous post. It just happened to me today, again, and it is because of an app notification. One of the apps in the taskbar will have a selection box around it, that looks slightly discolored from the selection box when you hover over the icons. That app notification is what's not allowing the taskbar to autohide. So it's not a bug, but a feature to let you know that an app needs your attention. Just like when you are installing something and the install shield might pop up, along with the installation windows and you have to then select it. That's practically what's happening here. So just click on the app requesting your attention and the taskbar will autohide after that.

I've had the same problem, but I don't have a multimonitor setup. I was just having the same problem and thought I was going to have to restart my PC before I searched for help. I even tried checking the settings, only to see that it's still set to Autohide. I then manually minimized all my open apps and some with active notification alert numbers on them; one being the phone app. After I minimized the apps, I hadn't checked for a while, the task bar went back to autohide mode. Maybe the issue might be because an app has an active alert that hasn't been used in a while. You don't have to dismiss the notification, but just click on the app to have it recognize that you checked it. Hopefully this explains this behavior. It has been annoying for me too.

Sadly I also have this issue but on Windows 10.

It never used to be a problem with the same hardware so I can only assume its a change that was applied to both versions.

In my case it is 100% reproducible. It happens when my receiver (effectively my left my left most 'display') that is connected via HDMI to my GPU turns off after having last been turned on.

This shifts everything on my screens over to the right (including the center monitor even though it doesn't get disconnected), disables auto-hide, and displays the prompt about only being able to have one hidden toolbar even though I don't have any toolbars enabled.

To specify a left taskbar alignment, do the following:

1. Right-click on the taskbar.
2. Click on "Taskbar settings".
3. Scroll down to "Taskbar Behaviors"
4. The first item allows you to align the taskbar to the left, center, or right.

For me, I have 16 items there that I use literally all the time, so it wouldn't help me.
