Can't switch out of S mode: "Try that again"

I recently purchased a laptop that came with the S mode of Windows. On the first startup it automatically installed Windows 11 (so downgrading to 10 is not an option). After set up etc. I updated Microsoft Store and installed various Windows updates and tried to switch it out of S mode. Instead, for the past few hours and with each of the hundreds of attempts, I keep getting a window that says "Try that again. Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help" along with an error code that changes every time. I am burned out and all out of ideas, any assistance on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

Finally got connected to the MS store to get out of s mode. Turns out I need to get another laptop, not enough SDD space … so I may have to go thru this again with the new one! Why does MS think I need training wheels on my computer? I don't want a castrated laptop! πŸ˜‘πŸ’’

Definitely unacceptable. Sorry you are having so much trouble. I , on the day of purchase made an appt with the Geek Squad. We buy a lot from them and have the Total Care plan. I Was fully planning on taking it down on Monday. I even told the MSN help desk, what I was planning. I too was sent to an IT . I was put on a call back que. 3 hours later I got a call.

I hope you can get satisfaction soon

    So unacceptable.

I am also having this problem. I have spoken to customer service 3 times already and currently on hold a fourth time. Every time I speak to someone, they tell me they need to escalate the issue to another team and then the call disconnects. This is completely unacceptable.

Yeah. I was fortunate to have a good IT person on the phone with me from MS help desk as well.

    Enjoy your week 🌞

I ended up calling MS help desk and by 3 am this morning it was fixed. We had to reinstall a few times. Ridiculous, but I needed professional help to get it working.
