Can't switch out of S mode: "Try that again"

I recently purchased a laptop that came with the S mode of Windows. On the first startup it automatically installed Windows 11 (so downgrading to 10 is not an option). After set up etc. I updated Microsoft Store and installed various Windows updates and tried to switch it out of S mode. Instead, for the past few hours and with each of the hundreds of attempts, I keep getting a window that says "Try that again. Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help" along with an error code that changes every time. I am burned out and all out of ideas, any assistance on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

I am not even given the option to switch out of S mode the windows will not allow me to turn it off or do anything with it, this is why i will not be purchasing a windows laptop in the future because this problem is ridiculous.

This issue has been going on for years. I simply can't understand why a world leading software company can't put a fix in place.
