I am having the same frustration. I waste more time staring at the icons, hovering over them to make sure that the icon represents what I aiming to do and since the icons have less width than words, there is a greater chance of clicking the wrong one. Yes, I accidentally clicked delete on one occasion but thankfully Ctrl-Z brought the folder back.
Regarding what is apparently the only existing fix, I can't adapt regedit because this is a work computer, and I don't have admin permissions.
Please Microsoft, listen to the requests of your users and put this in your backlog of future enhancements.
The feedback on this thread has now reached 10 pages so that should indicate to you the importance of having your development team act on this simple request to change things back to the way they were or at least give us an option to do so instead just disregarding us.
You obviously spent a lot of time changing the style of all of the emojis for Windows 11 which no one asked for so please spend time on something that many users actually want.
