I read and followed the following steps below (I have win 11). Even though my settings were essentially the same, I just deleted and reentered them. So far, and I've exercised the scanner many times, it is now working as it did in the past---on a different computer with win 10--now using win 11
I have the same problem with my V850 Pro. Works a day or two in a row and then when I open it says can't communicate with the scanner. Very annoying! Then I have to download/install the same driver every time I want to use the scanner
Follow these steps:
- Right-click on the Epson Scan icon on the desktop, then click Properties.
2) Go to Compatibility tab. If the check box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for, uncheck it. Then click the OK button.
- On your keyboard, press Windows logo key and R key at the same time to invoke the Run box.
- Type services.msc and click the OK button to open the Services window:

- Right click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA),****then click Properties.

- Make sure Startup type is set to Automatic and the Service status to Running, the click Apply > OK.

- Check to see if you scanner works
