Scanner won't run on Windows 11

I have an Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner that I can't get to run on Windows 11. I did an install with the disk that came with the scanner, then downloaded the latest driver update from Epson, but when I try to run it, I get a message saying "Can't communicate with scanner." Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I really need to use this scanner.

    It did it on its own (either that or my computer!)

    Thank you for letting us know. I will update Win11 today and see how it goes. I appreciate all of the people who have replied and offered solutions since my original post. There are a lot of smart people in this community. Getting relatively new scanners to work correctly should not be so hard. I will remain on Win10 on my other computers as long as I can.

    Hi

    Prior to Win 11 as far as I can tell, "cannot connect" was not an issue with Epson Scanners. Different models, upgrades, software etc.,.---nothing until Win 11 came along. One has to come to the conclusion that Win 11 doesn't like Epson scanners. The fix to make them compatible has to come from Win 11. Playing around with the Epson software only seems to be a temporary fix-- works one time and not another.

    Good luck in what you did--but for me, playing around with deleting, downloading, installing files, as you did, will probably lead to me screwing up and make things worse. I dislike the fact that doing all that stuff is enabling MS and reduces the sense of urgency on their part to come up with correcting what ever the disagreement is.

    I'll stay with :

    Turning on the scanner before turning on the computer

    or

    if computer is on, then turn on scanner and reboot computer,

    Not the best solution but, for me, it has worked every time.

    Having said all that--this morning--turned on computer-- then scanner and would you know it--no problem. Everything OK

    I tried the "turn on scanner before boot" technique before. But it wasn't working for me. I think it may have been because I was installing Epson drivers, utilities and updaters randomly.

    Today, after previously installing all Epson utilities and updaters in order based on their date of publication, I tried the "turn on scanner before boot" technique -- and it worked. I could start using my scanner without needing to restart the Windows Image Acquisition service. Much simpler.

    Caarlo, I have had the problem of my Epson NX430 scanner software not liking Windows 11 after upgrade. I merely went to the exe file and did a compatibility check. The software ran in the Win 7 format. Bingo everything is working OK now. ... Art

    Another helpful solution. My question would be whether or not you’re missing out on any specific features etc. because of the older software.

    If the scanner runs per design intent, good for you.
