Well I suggested not restarting but changing start-up type especially for the EPSON Scan service to MANUAL. This and the default Manual Trigger Startup type for the WIA service makes it work for me and my V600 i.e. I can turn on the scanner (after Windows boot) and it will initialise and not just show up in device manager.
Scanner won't run on Windows 11
I have an Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner that I can't get to run on Windows 11. I did an install with the disk that came with the scanner, then downloaded the latest driver update from Epson, but when I try to run it, I get a message saying "Can't communicate with scanner." Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I really need to use this scanner.

2022-04-09T15:22:10+00:00 It's a mixed bag, apparently with different solutions in getting the scanner recognized with win 11. The latest success for me (just now) was just to have the scanner on and to reboot the computer. Hopefully, either Epson or MS, will come up with a solution to the non-recognizing pain in the ****.

2022-04-09T16:39:33+00:00 An adder--just downloaded and installed the latest driver ,ver 3.9.3.1. Shut scanner off---put it back on and it was OK. That is nothing new--time will tell if if the latest driver actually fixes the recognition problem

2022-04-09T20:19:17+00:00 I've finally solved the problem. I bought a used HP computer running Windows XP and a used Canon flatbed scanner that will run on XP. No internet, but at least I have a working scanner now.
