Scanner won't run on Windows 11

I have an Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner that I can't get to run on Windows 11. I did an install with the disk that came with the scanner, then downloaded the latest driver update from Epson, but when I try to run it, I get a message saying "Can't communicate with scanner." Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I really need to use this scanner.

    Dan,

I feel your frustration! It took me a year of off-and-on attempts to try to figure this out. I believe that the issue with the cabling has to do with the many different new types of USB ports. My setup has a USB Hub that is capable of handling USB 2.0 and was able to handle the backward compatibility of USB 1.0 until the Windows 11 upgrade. My hub is plugged into a USB 1.0 slot. I came across the cabling issue when I decided to run the scanner off a different laptop.

Based on your setup, when you are printing your computer may only just send one-way communication to the printer. Where in scanning significant two-way communications occur between the PC and the scanner.

I would recommend that your new USB cable be 2.0 compatible.

    Good Luck,

    Rob

The entire scan process using Epson Scan or Microsoft scan with Windows 11 just really sucks. You fix the issue and then an update for Win 11 comes in and it no longer works, Sure, lots of fixes including new cables which I am about to do but overall, I am so tired of the issues using scan for the last year or so that I am ready to dump both..

Today I am getting a notice on the printer that says no USB connection, yet I can print ???? OK, I will replace the cables.

Enough, ... Reliability and consistency is far more important than new micky mouse features.

I had to upload info to Centrelink so just purchased another scanner as the powers intended. Haven’t had time to investigate cables & all the other fixes but will do when my life settles down. Thank you for caring.

Yes, I scanned a couple documents and everything seem fine, after setting up a few things that had reset to original values/ locations. Thanks again!
