Epson V500 is such a good scanner. Works with Win 10 like a charm, would be just so stupid and environmentally hostile to throw it away just because the producer tries to sell some new scanners by not updating the drivers for older hardware that works just fine. It is not ethical.
Scanner won't run on Windows 11
I have an Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner that I can't get to run on Windows 11. I did an install with the disk that came with the scanner, then downloaded the latest driver update from Epson, but when I try to run it, I get a message saying "Can't communicate with scanner." Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I really need to use this scanner.

2023-01-09T20:09:15+00:00 I haven't had any problem on Windows 10 except periodic disconnects which have always solvable by restarting the scanner, restarting the software program using the scanner or rebooting windows. With Windows 11, once once I got the most recent version of Epsonscan I had no problem if I was willing to hit the alt key to bring up the preview window. That Annoyance and not being able to get another program to work in 11 has always
made me revert to 10.

2022-10-04T16:36:12+00:00 We had issues not only with Epson scanners, but also with our topaz signature pads. They would not work on new laptops/desktops recently purchased with Windows 11 pre-loaded. Just as a last-ditch effort my IT technician did a factory reset. Manually downloaded all Windows 11 updates and NOW, all devices work. thank goodness! I appreciate everyone's assistance!

2022-09-04T15:14:30+00:00 Thank you for the Alt trick to get the control buttons to show on the Epson Scan window! Before this I was guessing where the button should be and that one button would appear after clicking on the space.

2022-09-03T18:16:16+00:00 I'm not aware of Windows 11 issues with Brother devices. As far as I know only Epson have Windows 11 issue.
If the scanner is on and then you start your computer it works fine. If you turn on the scanner while the computer is on then you need to restart the scanner windows service to make it work. This is true at least for me and couple of other people that I know.
