2022-11-04T20:46:53+00:00 So rather accidentally I've resolved my issue ...for now ... so far. I just put together a new rig (MB, CPU memory), and after Windows 11 making me re-activate, some settings seemed to revert to default. When I changed Power settings to Ryzen Performance my mouse became nearly unusable with stutter, leaping across the screen, etc. Changed Power back to Balanced and all is well. Makes no sense...Ryzen 7 - 7700X (8 core, 16 threads), 32G memory, 850W power supply. Something in the Windows 11 Insider - Dev build is screwy. Just part of the fun I signed up for! LOL. 😉😅

2022-11-04T18:40:20+00:00 This happens to me intermittently, sometimes to the point of making my computer nearly unusable. Depending on my config and the computer's mood, it will affect either my external mouse or my external keyboard or both. Sometimes briefly, other times it's very disruptive for hours Happens wired and wireless. No one else at my company has reported this issue, but it follows me across work computers but does not happen with the same keyboards and mice on any of my 3 personal computers.
Work computers are all Windows 10. Personal computers I've tested with no issues include Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Typing this all out makes it seem like it may be the work config somehow, but we don't have any other users reporting this same issue.
I've been doing IT for 15 years and currently do tier 2 support for a medium sized company. I'm extensively familiar with troubleshooting and generally quite good at it, but like all humans I sometimes miss even obvious things.
Things I've tried:
Rebooting
Connecting only my keyboard and mouse and eliminating hubs and displays
Reinstalling drivers
BIOS updates
The LinkedIn Features suggestion from this thread
Using USB for both mouse and keyboard, or combinations: having the best luck with a wired keyboard and bluetooth mouse
A new computer: Two identical Dell Latitude 7420, and now a Dell Precision 5560, all importantly with the same standard config from my work
A new mouse: Tried a cheapo USB provided by work, a Razer Trinity Naga, a Logitech G502 Hero, and currently a Logitech MX Master 3 bluetooth mouse
A new keyboard: 2 decent quality USB-only keyboards (Razer and G Skill), cheapo work provided USB keyboard, and currently a Keychron that works over USB or bluetooth, connected via USB
Using wifi or a wired connection: currently connected via Ethernet with 250 mbps of bandwidth that I never approach
My mouse is so aggressively stuttery at the moment it's difficult to click the "Submit" button.

2022-04-23T03:13:34+00:00 I have been trying a number of things to solve this issue. My hunch is that the lag/jitter has something to do with applications or the OS trying to communicate with the internet and when there is not enough priority, or sufficient throughput and it gets into a brief wait state. Unfortunately, there are so many variables, that it is not a straightforward task to identify. It could be in the software, OS, drivers, motherboard, or possibly the interrupt handlers at the CPU level. I haven't been able to track down any specific or repeatable actions that narrow the list down with any confidence. It doesn't help either that it is intermittent.
One thing I did notice was that Edge and any subsystem which used it (i.e. Win11 Widgets), was fairly resource intensive and seemed to be hitting the internet frequently. Not that Edge itself is the root cause, but I ended up uninstalling it completely and went to a more lightweight browser and at nearly the same timeframe, I also changed my ISP to a faster provider (I went from 10Mbps DSL to Starlink).
What clued me in on this hypothesis was that Starlink occasionally has dropouts where the satellites are obstructed, and I have seen the mouse stutter in close proximity to those internet outages.
Since then, I have not seen the lag (outside of outages), or at least not to the the degree where it is frustrating.
Is it Edge, is it internet speed, is it background processes like Windows Updates accessing the internet and getting held up? I don't really know for sure, but it *feels* like they are interrelated with networking.
For those of you who experience the jitters frequently, I would be curious if you could find a time to work completely offline for a duration of time that it would likely happen (disabling all networks) and see if the problem goes away. If it does, but then it returns after re-enabling wifi/ethernet, then we may have some good leads into tracking this problem down.

2022-03-27T23:13:00+00:00 i bought an asus laptop with windows 10. it offered a windows 11 upgrade so i did that. i also have office365 installed.
the mouse icon seems to glitch within a few minutes of using office. the arrow just turns super fuzzy, probably a sign it's a graphics glitch. there is some lag too.
i already had deselected the linkedin option in office so that doesnt seem to be causing my issue.
the advice by Claudier seems like a bit of a lengthy path for me. can anyone advise if that worked for them? honestly, i can do all that but not real stoked to try and fix a glitch that seems to be the responsibility of windows to fix.
i guess i can revert to windows 10. or just return this new laptop and go a different path. wish there was a simple fix for a busy, non-guru type like myself. seems like whenever i try to fix things it seems to just waste time.
