How do I turn off PIN login on Windows 11?

When I go to the "remove pin", the button is grayed out. I contacted HP tech support & they said that's a software issue. I was able to turn it off in Win 10, but when I rec'd my new laptop that was supposed to have Win 10 installed, it turned out to be Win 11. Anyone have a fix?

    From this link, you can shut it off completely by modifying the registry. I just did it, put the computer to sleep, and it wakes back up right where it was.

    So in the registry editor, go to:

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\Settings\AllowSignInOptions

    Set the 'value' to zero.

    Hi, I am unable to login to windows. After a bios update, the machine reset the PIN login. After inputting username and password, it then requires that you input a verification code sent via email. NO CODE IS SENT. No code continues to be sent. Even selecting to cancel a request, you must verify with A CODE which never gets sent. UNABLE TO ACCESS COMPUTER. PLEASE HELP!

    Note that the registry hack I posted works for when the computer goes to sleep. But it is still looking for a PIN on a reboot. I guess I'll have to live with it..... At least, I don't reboot as often as I put the machine to sleep.

    Thanks. This actually worked.

    It appears MSFT wants you to login to devices with your MS account, not what they now call a "local account."

    If you switch to a local account, no password is required. It looks like they really want to discourage people from doing this.

    If you stay logged in with your global MS account, which they make you set up upon installation of Win11, you must use a PIN or other security for login.

    Thx for sticking with it., it also has solved some operating issues on a new dell XPS laptop that I've been dealing with for over a year
