Hello, I am inquiring about an issue I can't seem to solve (without turning HDR off all-together, which defeats the purpose of having it even be an option in Windows 11)
In recordings (primarily using OBS) and in screenshots (with snip and sketch) everything appears extremely over-exposed / bright with HDR enabled. This is a big problem for me as I actually, well, want to use the OS normally. I record lots of clips and take many screenshots and I've finally gotten fed up of it and am now looking for a solution. Any help appreciated, thanks
(snip and sketch has since stopped doing it, however it likes to do it randomly now. commonly happens in fullscreen programs and also my web browser for some reason)

The bad thing is, i have not found this issue mentioned in their backlog...
IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSSED @microsoft. It's so much pain when I have teams call and I need to share my screen but I have to turn off HDR every time because my colleagues can't see anything thanks to the overexposure...
The snipping tool was gives a HDR colour correction in the options, toggle it on
Why isn't it auto default operation I dont know
not sure what has happened recently.
sometimes it is over exposed but sometimes it is not.

I posted the following back in October which completely resolved the issue for me, so thought I would repost it in the event it was missed in the conversation. I have no idea why this works, and therefore I can't claim it will for everyone in all situations, however I can say that it has worked for me, resolving HDR snipping issues across all programs, Chrome, Edge, Word, Excel... etc etc.
Give it a try, hopefully it will work for you as well, see as follows!
I changed the colour profile in Chrome which seemed to fix the issue when snipping from Chrome (which was my main issue). I've also tested snipping from Word (which obviously a change in Chrome shouldn't impact... ) and that was also fine.
I went to here: chrome://flags/#force-color-profileand changed the colour profile to sRGB (the below screenshot was a snip with HDR on, and as you can see... it's now fine)
Give it a go.. see if it sorts it for you.

Same issue too.
Image evidence for MS. Taken multiple times to test, snip, print screen, nvidia shadow play, OBS. Doesn't matter this is the result. I'm also using HDR with Windows 11 and only on 1 monitor.
First image is the correct presentation, and how the game should look. Second image is the over-exposed result currently produced on Windows 11.
