Hello everyone. I wanted to share possibly the last update. Next week we will be releasing a new Game Ready Driver which will include a fix for this issue. As I stated in the past, this was resolved by reproducing a crash on a different Dell notebook that produced a crash dump file with the same signature as that shared by users to me in this thread and coming up with a fix for that. So while we were not able to 100% confirm the fix since we do not have a Dell XPS 9560 in our labs, I would recommend users give the next driver update a try and then share your feedback. Thank you all for your help and your patience.
Continued BSOD video dxgkrnl fatal error Windows 10 dell XPS laptop
Final Edit: I'm updating this thread for future users. The problem is solved! Nvidia have released a new driver that fixes the issue. It's been in use for over 10 days as of time of writing and all reports are that the XPS 15 9560 is stable again.
Thank you to everyone who came hear and contributed their voice into the mix, and thank you Nvidia Manuel for hearing us and providing updates. I'll leave the workarounds up and in the post just in case the problem arises again in the future.
Original post below:
My laptop (Dell xps 15 9560 windows 10 21H2) has been repeatedly BSODing. It was doing this about 3-4 weeks ago. I made a post here, spoke to someone and implemented their fix and thought I was done as everything returned to normal. Yet the problem persists as of the most recent windows update.
Things I have done:
Completely uninstalled and reinstalled all graphics drivers from manufacturers with a clean install using DDU in safe mode
Rolled back the most recent windows update
Installed all the updates from Dell support
Attempted to repair files with the sfc /scannow command
Reinstalled DirectX
Cried a little bit
As of about an hour ago I'm still having the same blue screen fatal error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Liam
Edit 1: Thought it best to post this here so it's on every page for new comers. Members of this thread with 9560s suffering constant BSODs have found that disabling the GTX1050 graphics card in the device manager results in system stability. Yes, this is not an acceptable long term solution, we didn't buy these machines to have them hamstrung like this. But equally this does completely fix the BSOD issue. This is a temporary band-aid fix until a real solution presents itself.
Band Aid Method:
- Press windows key + x
- Select device manager from list
- Navigate to Display Adapters and double click
- Locate NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 from the drop down options
- Right click on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 and select Disable device
- Bingo. You did it.
Your 9560 is now stable for office use, internet browsing, and lite graphic design work. I've been using Illustrator with a very minor performance hit.
One user has noted that you can fire up your system with the GTX1050 disabled, reenable it, and perform graphics heavy tasks with it as long as you disable the GTX1050 before the machine goes into sleep mode or restarts, etc, then everything remains stable. It's a pain in the ****, but for some of you with more demanding tasks that are on a deadline it might work in a pinch.
Edit 2: Some members of this thread have had success rolling their Nvidia drivers back to version 27.21.14.6109. This appears to stop the BSOD issue while keeping the gtx1050 active and stable. This can be found on Dell's website with a little searching. Anyone using this method should be aware that drivers are updated for a reason. Utilizing this method could leave your system open to security threats, etc. In my opinion this is still only a band-aid fix.

2022-09-25T17:34:43+00:00 Hello fellow Blue Screeners.....
So the latest news from my testing perspective is as follows:
The jury so far:
30.0.14.7135, A08 - 15/09/2021 - BSOD
27.21.14.6231, A07 - 18/05/2021 - BSOD after 2 hrs,
27.21.14.6109, A06 - 22/02/2021 - Still working ok after 6 days..
27.21.14.5241, A05 - 17/11/2020 - ?
27.21.14.5167, A04 - 19/08/2020 - ?
27.21.14.4270, A21 - 07/05/2020 - We all agree this clears the BSOD (btw, I didn't notice any performance issue or screaming fans with this)
I think I'm happy that this more recent version is worth u/g to - 27.21.14.6109 off the DELL support site. I have been using my machine heavily over the last 6 days and had no issues, Back to her usual reliable self. Its also 9 months newer than driver sub-version 4270, so worth U/G to I think.
Those stable users with the GPU active and running on 4270, if u r willing, u/g to 6109, and see how u go. Worst case is u roll back to 4270, but don't want people to risk losing work - I'm all good though.
NVIDIA_Manuel, Not sure if this helps you in you investigations, but I reckon the delta where the issue came into the picture was between 6109 and 6231.
Again, not pointing the finger at NVIDA here, we know the more recent drivers did work for a while until a Windows update occurred earlier in the year.
I really appreciate you continuing to find the solution to the problem as does I'm sure this growing community of users...
Also I noticed the dell support email address was removed from my previous post. Here it is in jpg form...

2022-05-27T08:59:36+00:00 Right, Dell Support team advised to reinstall windows 10. I’m doubtful this is going to work but will give it a try anyway.
Again it cannot be a coincidence that we all started having this problem at the beginning of May
