Many persistent errors in Event Viewer after Windows 11 build 22598.ni_release.220408-1503: "Autopilot.dll wil error was reported"

Have Azus ROG AMD Ryzen 7 5800X machine and wanted to get rid of McAfee & other bloatware so did a clean install (media creation tool), only to get this bombarded with this event error:

Autopilot.dll WIL error was reported.

Message: NULL

• Updated BIOS failed to improve the problem.
• New Microsoft Account was created (in case of corruption) and a second clean install was preformed. Again, no improvement.
• NVIDIA GeForce drivers were rolled back (per one online recommendation) with zero change in status.
• Feedback Report was sent to Microsoft.
• 2 Clean installs could not fix this problem.

At time of purchase, Armoury Crate and all of the Azus account logins were up and running. MyAzus had generous permissions that were later removed, but event error 1010 was absent under this setup. Could something in the original TPM settings of the computer be contributing to the Autopilot.dll WIL error from the clean install?

Agreed that BIOS flashing does not solve the problem. I've had 2 BIOS updates in the last month and the problem continues. Interesting pointer on Edge. Will check it out. Recent dot net framework updates are another possible suspect for me.

I had a similar problem a couple years ago and fought it for about 2 months before buying a new machine with the intention of giving the other one to my daughter if I ever got it fixed. I poked around with it for another 6 months which I think translates into about 60 to 80 actual hours work. And then one day for I don't know what reason I had an idea to reflash the BIOS. It worked. So you might want to give that a try before you spend any more money.

Flashing the BIOS didn't help. In my case I've narrowed it down to Microsoft Edge. The first instances happen when I start my computer. The next instances take place when I start Microsoft Edge. The error didn't occur until I updated from 21H2 to 22H2.

Dude, this is scary.

For weeks now I have had the same problem. My PC would crash (without log entry), play sound for a few seconds and then reboot to a black screen. I had to kill the PC and do a cold start to get it working again. I replaced my GPU and mainboard and still get the crashes. Sometimes when I do something basic on my Desktop, but when playing games always after a few seconds to minutes.

Then I saw all those autopilot error messages in event viewer and suspected it has to do with that, but it seems my problem might be power related, too, since my PC just goes into emergency mode and shuts itself down, before even being able to write a minidump or even a log entry.

I'm getting a new high quality PSU and hope that will fix it.

I had a total of 3 green screens today, all during video calls using Edge. I didn't have similar issues before, but also did not use this particular computer as extensively (using private PC due to unexpected home office).

Will use Chrome tomorrow to see if the situation changes.

I'm on 22623.741 and the event log is full of Autopilot.dll errors (~600 today), also just before the green screens happened.
