Windows 11 is keep installing the wrong AMD driver

Sorry, I checked. The AMD community seems to not allow direct links of your signed on searches. So, go there, community.amd.com; then choose from the menu, support forums, and under that drivers & software. Within that I just searched for Radeon Software and Driver Version do not match solution. That thread is mind-boggling -- and it's ALL due to Microsoft's BS. Your best path is to contact AMD support, gather the diagnostic data they need, and follow their instructions. They're much better than what you'll get from MS. And you'll still have to go back to fix it again when MS breaks it again.

That is another of MS's absolute BS. Why in the world would they cancel the changes immediately when you do a manual update? And, would they warn you that would happen? Of course not. All their idiotic nanny nonsense is for their benefit. To cram more and more of their **** software on you. Check what they did with their store - removing every app from companies that legitimately compete with what they want to shove on you, and other settings. They are the WORST greedy, anticompetitive monster monopoly on earth. Shame on Bill Gates. Part of their protocol is to have sycophants brainwashed into pushing their propaganda pseudo answers on this platform. If you've ever tried to reach out to MS official support, you know what a nightmare of total BS that is. There is no support. Their company policy is to hide under a mountain of garbage excuses and gatekeeping that makes you waste days upon days of time and sends you back to the beginning of their hidden procedures to get back to the same starting point with absolutely no resolution and no satisfaction. A fight over their insane licensing confusion always ends up in them extorting a new ransom licensing fee, along with the BS that they're a software company, not a hardware company like Apple. Well that's another crock. Google is a software company. I've never been charged exorbitant licensing fees by them (except for cloud managed databases). How about the myriad of Linux distributions? How about Libre Office and the many Open Source alternatives that are as good or better than Microsoft alternatives? They're just plain crooks, a gigantic criminal enterprise organization.

I am having this problem up to this date. I would install the right driver for the Adrelin to work but Windows will eventually install a driver silently without me knowing.

There's a solution posted by W0nd3rwi3ss a little earlier on in this thread and it worked a treat for me. Have you tried following the steps mentioned to 'blacklist' the Windows Update provided drivers and then reinstalling the ones you want?

Got the same issue and i solved it as following:

1. Update Windows to the latest version with all the drivers
2. Install the Radeon drivers
3. After the restart run "Windows Update" and let it install the "wrong driver" again.
4. Go to device manager and roll-back to the AMD driver (This actual flags the Microsoft variant of the AMD driver to never install).
5. Check with Windows update if the "Wrong driver" still installs. If not, you are good and the new driver is installed.
6. If you like the full package with the Adrenalin package then run the AMD installer again and reboot.

All other solutions given here did not work for me.

I have tried literally everything I found online to try and fix this, including this. Did this multiple times, but Windows Update never updates the driver and I don't have the "roll-back driver" option available. It is grayed out.

I'm starting to lose my mind over this, because I just built a new PC with an AMD 7900 XTX and it is my first AMD GPU. Every game I launch gives me an error, that I have out of date drivers, even though I have the latest ones from Adrenalin.

To recap:

-Disabled hardware updates to "no" from system settings.

-Edited the registry.

-Uninstalled/reinstalled Adrenalin.

-Tried the solution by Wonderweiss.

-...some other stuff that I can't even remember anymore.

And yes, I re-enabled the optional updates to try and receive the Windows driver, but no dice.

To clarify the method (if I understood it correctly) I uninstalled AMD software and driver, rebooted, ran Windows update (didn't receive a driver), reinstalled AMD Adrenalin, rebooted, ran Windows update (still no driver and no roll-back option).
