My Headphone Jack no longer works after upgrading to Windows 11. It works if I have it plugged in and reboot, but as soon as I unplug it stops until a reboot....it does not automatically detect it

    Hello

I've had the issue since 2022 possibly, quite some time anyway. Here's what worked for me today.

It's possible that someone came with this already, the darn thread is too long...

Right-click the computer icon in explorer. Select other options, the Manage computer.

Computer Management (local) / Peripherals / System tools / Audio, video and game controllers. Makes sense.

The last Realtek Soundwire HW Audio Codec Device Driver in the list (#4) is down unlike the previous ones.

The status in Properties indicates a power failure of sorts.

I disable then reenable the device driver: lo and behold, the jack output works again.

Additionally, the headphones output is back in audio output settings.

    Windows 11 Home System 10.0.22631 Build 22631 Model XPS 17 9710

    Driver version is 10.0.235.1

    Hope this helps.

    Jeff

I had the same issue as everyone else here: plugged-in headphones would only work if there were plugged-in when the computer booted. If plugged they would not be detected again until after a restart.

    What worked for me:

    1. Go to "Settings"
    2. Go to "Apps"
    3. Go to "Startup"
    4. Turn ON Waves MaxxAudio Service Application
    5. Restart your computer and plug/unplug/re-plug your headphones: everything should work now.

This is the only solution that actually worked! Thank you!

PS: I wonder why it's disabled by default lol

    Here's what worked for me(Windows 10):

    Task Manager

    Startup tab

Find RealTek HD Audio Universal Service

    • right click. Select Properties

    -Compatibility Mode

    -click this to ON

    -select Windows Vista

    Apply

    Reboot
