Looks like this happen to a lot of sculpt keyboard user, until this is not resolved by MS, will be going back to wired keyboard for a while ... sigh :(
Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard stops working randomly (but not the mouse nor number pad)
I have a Microsoft Sculpt ergonomic wireless keyboard for a few months now. I run Windows 11. I did the last update on my computer yesterday and since then the keyboard randomly stops working. I tried using the solutions on this thread https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/microsoft-sculpt-wireless-keyboard-intermittent/576defc3-634a-4a6a-9793-230dcc447f77 from 2018, but nothing works. It's the same issue : I have to remove the batteries, wait a bit, put them back in and the keyboard works again. When the keyboard doesn't work, the number pad still does as does the mouse. It's my work computer so I don't have all the access for the Command Thing. Right now as I'm typing, the keyboard is randomly activating and de-activating some shortcuts despite me not touching anything but the keys to write.
What do I do ? I've done all the updates, I've run the Hardware & Devices updates/troubleshooting and nothing is helping.
Infos about the computer :
Acer Spin 513-52N, Edition Windows 11 Home, version 21H2, OS build 22000.613 64bits (I'm not sure which infos you need).
Thanks

2023-01-17T08:29:53+00:00 I have the same issue, but with Macbook Pro 16" 2021.
I think it's a hardware issue.
I would love to get a good official Microsoft solution to this.

2022-12-02T22:51:41+00:00 I have a use on her 4th Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic and each time same issue as yours with random keyboard working, oddly it only happens when she's at home. This issue occurred on her old and new laptop, both Dell. Both were loaded with the latest drivers using Windows 10 20H2 and 21H2 builds.
I'm searching for answers, too. But will ask user if there is a key sticking.

2022-10-10T10:21:17+00:00 I am also having this problem and it is very frustrating. After installing the specific driver for this keyboard rather then the one windows used when it was connected, it did work for one day as it should and I thought it was resolved. Never thought i would be so excited over a keyboard doing its job properly. Alas after this one day of working properly, I am back to having to continuously removing and replacing the batteries. you would expect Microsoft to have their keyboards compatible with their operating system. I am now having to use the laptop keyboard which is causing my pain in my writs, hands and forearm. My employer wont keep replacing my keyboard, they are not cheap, but i cannot keep using a standard keyboard when just a couple of hours intermittent typing is causing me pain and discomfort.
as it is a work computer all updates are done automatically and cant be turned off or rolled back so what can I do.
it did work ok for about the first 6 weeks after purchase. in July

2022-10-08T17:26:48+00:00 I've had this problem a couple times on different Sculpt keyboards (one I use at work and one I use at home). Both times I ultimately discovered that the problem was caused by a key getting stuck (most recently it was the F8 key). Presumably when the key is pressed repeatedly and no other keys are being pressed to interrupt it, the keyboard decides to disconnect.
Both times when I fiddled with the sticking key a bit and to get it unstuck, the problem of the keyboard disconnecting (despite the number pad working) went away - no more taking the batteries out and putting them back in every time I stopped using the keyboard for a few minutes.
The design of this keyboard seems to have an issue with keys somehow getting caught in the pressed position, but fixing that when it happens generally solves the problem of disconnecting.
