WIFI 6 (Mediatek MT7921) disconnects randomly

I just finished building a new pc and installed all the appropriate drivers and software. I have a WIFI 6 router which I have had for a while now and never had any issues with and the motherboard I am using is the ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS WIFI II AM4 AMD B550 SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard. It utilizes the Mediatek MT7921 WIFI card.

The WIFI will randomly disconnect but it says its still connected. Oddly enough I can still load Google and Youtube but nothing else and even then that is intermittent and extremely slow.

Drivers: Ive tried updating, rolling back, deleting and fresh install. no dice

Settings: Ive tried disabling IPV6, Changing from AX to AC to N, etc, Disabled the Bluetooth since its the same adapter. no dice.

Ive even checked to see on another device if my pc is connected to my router while its in this disconnected state and it shows that its connected to my router but it will not connect properly to the internet. I have not had this issue with any other device on my network so I am to conclude that it is most likely to do with this new pc and this Mediatek WIFI Adapter.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

    I also have ASUS tuf and same thing happening to me.

    mediateck is the worst wifi card

    Hi Alvaro,

    I have uploaded the file of the driver that I use. Hopefully, this forum doesn't have any rule that keeps me from sharing a URL. Please try the following link:

    If I recall correctly, I installed this driver through the Windows Device Manager. You will need to download it, unzip the archive, and then go to windows device manager. Look under "Network Adapters" and find "Mediatek MT7921." Right click that and then click "update driver." Choose "browse my computer for driver." Find the folder that you extracted and choose that. If the driver that you are currently using is newer, Windows may say that it already has the best driver. In this case, you will probably have to uninstall the current driver first, then install the driver that I have provided. Anyways, I hope that it works for you. To be honest, it might be easier to simply return the PC. I probably would have already done that but the situation is a bit more complicated for me because I purchased the computer in the USA and then moved to another country... so international shipping is expensive and just more complicated. Thankfully, I have determined that the hardware works correctly and that it is a driver problem.

    One other option for you. Another person on this threat named "NickBryson" has suggested a fix that works for him. You may want to try that. I hope it works.

    I didn't read all 4 pages but I was having this problem and went into

    1.Device manager

    2.Network Adaptors

    3.Mediatek wifi MT7921

    4.Right click

    5.Properties

    1. Advanced Tab

    7.Change 802.11 to wireless AC instead of AX

    Since doing this I haven't dropped Wi-Fi once and before it was every min or so. I don't think this has to do with my router, it supports AX as other devices don't drop except for this Wi-Fi card in ASUS laptop.

    That is working! search in "Google MediaTek-FORCED-10x64-79xx_3.03.01.0508-drp" - only one place where I can download it (be carefully, in that website I can see where is the link on from third try only) now version driver is 3.3.1.508 and in "advanced" tab - MUCH MORE settings, than before. So - ASUS make very bad. Sale laptop 2000+ euro and cant make it WORKING (I even not talking about something special - better than another - no, just simple: working)

    My laptop ASUS FA506QM5900 also uses this WIFI card and met the same problem recently. I updated the latest driver (version 3.0.1.1309) from support.lenovo.com. It seems working well.
