Memory integrity forced off "incompatible driver" STTub30.sys (STmicroelectronics)

Recently my memory integrity has been forced off due to an "incompatible driver" preventing the service from running. The incompatible driver in question is from STmicroelectronics driver "STTub30.sys" In my attempt to fix this, I uninstalled this driver and tried windows update to see if my PC would automatically reinstall this driver but no luck. Now when I turn Memory integrity on and restart my PC (as it prompts me to do so) my computer is stuck on the loading up screen, and I must force shutdown my pc and turn it on again in order to use it. I tried finding the specific driver online from the STmicroelectronics website to manually reinstall it but no luck

Here is a truly trivial solution from the ST web page Peter BENSCH (ST Employee)

Normally, this problem should not occur on a PC or notebook that was purchased normally and not equipped with ST software for developing microcontroller applications. In this respect, the manufacturer of the PC/notebook would be the right contact person who would have to eliminate this problem.

However, if you want to help yourself, you could deactivate this typically unneeded software:

    • launch "Device Manager"
    • in the View menu, select "Show hidden devices"
    • find the device associated with oem77.inf (it might done by selecting "Device by driver" in View menu
    • right click on this oem77 - does it offer an option to remove the device? If yes, remove it.
    • you'll maybe need to reboot the machine afterwards

We would be pleased if you would paste the result here and even more pleased if you would ask the respective manufacturer of the PC/notebook to remove the software from the standard installation.

After creating an account, and you are logged in, you can download the file on the bottom of this search result:

    https://community.st.com/s/global-search/sttub30

    Image

When not logged in, this "Files" section seems to be missing, and the page only shows community postings above.

The zip file is called: Sttub30-w11-x64

After extracting the contents, I only used the STTub30.sys file to overwrite the existing file in folder:

    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\

Then I rebooted, then turned on Core Isolation, which requires a reboot again to be effective.

    Good luck!

    Patrick.

I will try to find the driver on ST C... later today.

I suppose the first point should be if you know what the driver is for and you need it, unless you have an update to repair the situation, do not uninstall that driver.

The second point might be, Windows will, on occasion, offer an optional driver In the Windows update-Advanced Options section. This may depend on how you have the system configured.

How did you "uninstall" the driver?
