Audio stopped working after upgrading win11 to 22H2

It's such a pain, I have a Dell as well, same problem.

The audio restart working, but the microphones not (even with cabled phone earphones.

Thi is actually not a problem because I can use the bluetooth earphones if I skype/zoom, etc.

Now that I have the solution I would like to try latest driver I can find.

Consider that at Asus phone service they told me to send it to a repair center and we stay at the phone for 45minutes and as test they told me to try a linux live distro.

I try Mint one and it doen't has driver for Realtek....

I'm going to try ubuntu but I will google for the latest command line installation drivers (as said and repeated 100000 times even on youtube, the Intel one with installer or the latest one from the site doesnt'works.

I cry remembering my old sound blaster.

My PC is ZenBook ux480fd with a display as touchpad.Bought from amazon warehouse more than 2 years ago: it's not that new, but it has it's own NVIDIA graphic card and is tiny and lightweight , paid $600, I use only for emergency like now that my desktop is out of order, so I don't find a real rason to buy another one even if faster, specially because I got a Samsung S6 pad with 16GB of rm, great display and keyboard (lil old but very fast)+S23Ultra so mail, googling, texting and videoconference are 90% made with them.

Just to let you know that I'm not like an Appl3 fanboy that change it's tools every years (I had to buy s23ultra for work).

I don't know who is to blame after 22H2: microsoft or asus & co. for not releasing new drivers.I just must say that from ASUS an answer like "reset your PC and if it doen't work take/send it to repair center sound very like fraud because with your trick I at least fixed audio.

if someone has the solution for the microfone too please let me know, or if someone has link to new generuic drivers.

I encountered this issue once after Windows 11 update last year, on Lenovo Ideapad C340 notebook. No remedies from Microsoft community, nor Lenovo works.

I sent back to Lenovo service centre, they solved this issue by Reset or Reinstall Windows 10, and performed "test" for several days.

I seek advise from a technician working at a computer retailer, and was told that they encountered issues with their computer after every Windows 11 update. They simply perform Windows Reset (keep data).

Hope this suggestion helps, instead of wasting so much time trying to find solutions online, but ended up unable to solve any problem.

I am now on Winver 23H2 Build 2231.2861 and I use Audacity quite a lot. Only recently, can I say, have my Audio settings stabilised ... somewhat.

I can still receive an occasional Windows 11 Update that changes my Sound settings. To immense irritation, this then means diving into the old (sic) Control Panel and re-setting them to what I know 'works'.

I keep a note of the settings that work, to spare me grief.

Perhaps these comments chime with others.? I would be intrigued to know.

I run two HP's and a Dell, for safety's sake.
