Audio stopped working after upgrading win11 to 22H2

With the audio driver installation file that you downloaded, test the following

Right-click on the driver icon, choose the option solve compatibility problem;

Click try recommended settings;

In the new window described as Troubleshooting Program Compatibility, click on Test the Program option;

At the end of the test, click on Next;

On the next screen click Yes, save these settings to the program;

And finally click close the troubleshooter.

Check if this way you can install the driver and have the sound again?

If you still can't, try to apply the procedures below in the order they are found and test them at the end of each method:

method 1

Run the sound troubleshooter:

In the taskbar, look for the sound manager.

Then right-click on it and select Properties.

After it will present the possible correction options, wait for the verification.

Afterwards, check the sound device, and if it presents a correction option, you can run it. Then restart the system and see if the behavior persists.

method 2

Uninstall the sound controller through the current driver installed.

1. Click Start Menu, type and click Device Manager;
2. Click the arrow pointing to Audio Inputs and Outputs;
3. Right-click on the installed device and click on uninstall;
4. Restart your computer.

method 3

Rolling back an installed driver version.

1. Click Start Menu, type and click Device Manager;
2. Click the arrow pointing to Audio Inputs and Outputs;
3. Right-click the installed device and click Properties.
4. Click on the Driver tab and see if the Revert option is available, if so, revert it.
5. Restart your computer.

Method 4

Installing other versions of drivers.

1. Click Start Menu, type and click Device Manager;
2. Click the arrow pointing to Audio Inputs and Outputs;
3. Right-click the installed device and click Properties;
4. Click on the Driver tab, after Update Driver, then Browse Computer for Driver Software;
5. Click Allow me to choose from a list of device drivers on my Computer;

Afterwards, it may list other versions of drivers that have already been installed, some may have been installed manually, others by Windows Update.

Go select the driver versions, and install one by one, if there is more than one.

When installing each version, restart the system.

I had the same problem after installing the Windows 11 22H2 update. Updates showed up and I installed them, but I was unable to install 3 updates for Realtek speakers because it keeps saying error and retry and the sound completely disappeared. The output sound is showing completely empty like the Realtek speakers were gone as well. So, I went back to the update history and uninstalled these 2 updates shown below on a screenshot and the sound came back like it is showing the Realtek speakers as an output and the 3 Realtek software updates disappeared as well. Now I am afraid to install these 2 updates shown below because it might ruin the sound output again. I have an Asus Zenbook Pro 15 Oled Flip with 12th gen intel i7-12700H.

Same problem on Cirrus Logic Audio Controller on Dell Inspiron 3501

It would help if you could give us the exact computer model or motherboard version. I run ASUS motherboards with Realtek audio, but no Azure type audio.

There are comments Microsoft is aware some folks are losing their audio after this upgrade.

Edit: When I look in the Microsoft catalog for the Hardware ID, I get the driver version of 6.0.9376.1 dated 7/4/2022

Similar issue with Soundblaster Z Volume works but can only turn up halfway then distortion.
