Audio stopped working after upgrading win11 to 22H2

I am now on Winver 23H2 Build 2231.2861 and I use Audacity quite a lot. Only recently, can I say, have my Audio settings stabilised ... somewhat.

I can still receive an occasional Windows 11 Update that changes my Sound settings. To immense irritation, this then means diving into the old (sic) Control Panel and re-setting them to what I know 'works'.

I keep a note of the settings that work, to spare me grief.

Perhaps these comments chime with others.? I would be intrigued to know.

I run two HP's and a Dell, for safety's sake.

I've just upgraded (with a Restore Point of course; I do not trust MS at all right now!) to 22H2 Build 2262.521. And sure enough, as so often, my Audacity (Recording settings) which were working are screwed. It took half an hour of trying System (Sounds) and Sounds/Control Panel permutations to get it working again.

Does anyone else experience this frequently after Updating? I repeat, a year or so old machine with a Gen 11 CPU.

i thought i was the only one.

Alienware X15 R1, upgraded to 11 22h2 yesteday and now my audio is weird out.

For context:

i log in via windows hello and audio is working as default windows login sound plays. Then i tried to test the audio by going to sound settings and then volume testing 'ping' sound works.

so i left the computer idle, not playing any audio for a few seconds.

after that, tried to test the audio again and now the 'ping' volume test sound do not plays. Launching a browser and browsing youtube and clicking a video, no audio was played.

On the volume mixer and sound settings, audio is NOT muted and volume bar shows that sound is playing (because you can see the bar is increasing and decreasing), yet there's no audio out from the speaker at all.

The only workaround i found is to go to sound setting, enable Mono audio, and audio plays again out from the speaker. Disable Mono audio and the audio continues to play in stereo as well.

And if i continues to let the youtube video plays, the audio will play no problem and continues to play. until i stopped the audio activity, leaved it idle with no audio playing, then continues to play the audio and it's back to square one again with the need to apply the same workaround.

Audio playback device is realtek and i've updated to the latest version as provided by Dell.

Any advise?

i installed this version 6.0.9219.1 for testing purposes, by using the device manager .inf file from this folder Codec_9219.1

Audio is working fine. i tested it I suspect that built-in intel processor audio device driver is missing on windows 11 os, hence audio is not working.

I have collected different versions of Realtek hd audio drivers and kept them for personal use and for testing purposes.

It would help if you could give us the exact computer model or motherboard version. I run ASUS motherboards with Realtek audio, but no Azure type audio.

There are comments Microsoft is aware some folks are losing their audio after this upgrade.

Edit: When I look in the Microsoft catalog for the Hardware ID, I get the driver version of 6.0.9376.1 dated 7/4/2022
