"Try Connecting Your Device Again" bluetooth pairing error for Windows 11

Hello, thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer!

I have a new computer with a fresh install of Windows 11 64bit. I am unable to pair Bluetooth devices. I have tried both an XBox One controller and an Asus Keris Wireless mouse- both have the same problem. When I try to add the device the system shows the device in the list of things I can select and when I click the device it thinks for a bit then says "Try connecting your device again". When I try connecting again it gives me the same error.

I have confirmed that my bluetooth is both present and on.

All drivers appear to be up-to-date.

Both devices I've tried have worked fine when plugged in directly via USB.

I have also tried using a secondary USB bluetooth dongle but even with the newest driver manually installed I am still getting the following error:

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

I have also tried running the "Find and repair Bluetooth" troubleshooting program and have followed all instructions- still nothing. It keeps going to the "Check the bluetooth radio status" and declaring it fixed. No other diagnostics seem to run.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is pretty frustrating.

UPDATE: I didn't think I needed to attach the antenna for WIFI but apparently I did. If you're having a hard time with bluetooth, try attaching your antenna.

I had the same issues with my new PC build. I am using an ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO motherboard.

What resolved the issue for me is connecting the Wi-Fi antenna that came in the box for the motherboard. My antenna came with 2 connectors, and I plugged both in. My Bluetooth mouse paired immediately, and I was able to see more Bluetooth devices on the add a Bluetooth device list than I was able to previously.

According to Intel, some Bluetooth chipsets are using the Wi-Fi antenna to function: What is the antenna connector functionality for Intel® Wireless...

Hope this helps!

Yeah I didn't think the BIOS would magically solve the problem- someone suggested it and I was just running down the possible solutions. I tried adding the BIOS update file to a USB stick and slotted that in the BIOS input in the motherboard. I pressed the buttons as instructed and the LED indicator just kept flashing. I'm hesitant to try any stronger methods since a) I'm not certain I won't brick my machine and b) I'm not certain it will resolve the issue.

The kick in the pants is that Bluetooth IS showing up as installed and with no problems. Could it be an issue of one driver interfering with the others?

I doubt the update to the BIOS will change anything on that issue. I wouldn't be surprised it's a known bug with Windows 11 that isn't fixed yet... MS are sadly known, to leave bugs open for a very long time... a ghost right click bug is still present since Windows 95. On another note, I updated my BIOS via AI Crate as I find it easier that way. I did had to re-tweak my BIOS configs afterward tho. It had lost its Intel Virtualization and some RAM configs I had done. How did you tried to update it?

Have you been able to install an older version of the Bluetooth driver just to see if that works? Mine is on 20.150 something (cannot validate now) but I could find the 20.100 on Asus website.

    Hey Nicholas,

I'm having the same issue as Eric and tried all the steps here. I have a similar PC build, same CPU but my build is an ASUS ROG Strix z590-A Gaming Wifi and Windows 11 Pro, and cannot connect the Xbox Controller Series X (it already has the last firmware) nor any other thing via Bluetooth.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the bluetooth driver (I have the last available driver from both ASUS and Intel), also tried to install an older version but it always automatically puts me back on the newer version (22.150.0.6), updated the firmware of the controller, updated the BIOS, rebooted various times, updated the intel chipset driver, Windows 11 is up to date, Airplane mode is Off and tried turning it on to see if it was a Gui error, turned bluetooth, wifi and ethernet off, then only bluetooth on, checked windows defender and there's nothing showing that something has been blocked either, turned windows defender off, off and on again, and so on. I work as an IT and am used to debug stuff like that, just spent the last 3-4 hours trying things... nothing makes it work via bluetooth.

The controller and my other devices works when plugged in and the controller can connect to my xbox (and disconnected it from my xbox before trying on windows as I always did in the past while on Windows 10), they worked before upgrading to Windows 11 (when I was on Windows 10), but now none of these can connect via bluetooth anymore. The other devices are a mice, a keyboard, I also tried my magic trackpad, magic mouse and magic keyboard, even random devices I have no clue what they are, truly nothing wants to connect and it's always the same error.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide, at that point I'm going crazy...
