How to disable noise suppression when an application is using the microphone.

Hi,

Whenever an application is using my microphone, all the audio that plays gets suppressed and muffled and nearly quiet, there was an option to disable this before, but I just don't know how to disable it.

Disabling the options such as Audio Enhancements will make it normal for around 2 seconds before it becomes muffled again.

    You need the app to disable noise suppression when using the microphone right? Let me help you.

    You can try the following. 

      1. right click on the taskbar sound icon > select "**Sound Settings**" > **More Sound Settings** > right click on the currently used microphone device > **Properties** > switch to the "**Enhancements**" tab > uncheck "**Noise Suppression** " 

  2. Right click on the taskbar sound icon > select "**Sound Settings**" > **More Sound Settings** > switch to the "**Communications**" tab > check "**Do nothing**" >Apply >ok.

    Hello Lenka,

    I've tried both methods you have told me, though whenever a desktop app or external app (such as Discord or Audacity) uses my microphone, it seems all application audio gets suppressed still, no matter if it is set to "Do nothing".

    I believe I also experienced this problem today.

    I was trying to record a choir rehearsal using Audacity from a 2-channel 48kHz USB audio interface, with all "audio enhancements" turned off and the communications tab option set to "do nothing", Windows 11 did a remarkably good job of filtering out all the music and singing, leaving only speech.

    I double-checked all the settings, tried re-enabling and then re-disabling audio enhancements, including specifically noise reduction, disabled and enabled "allow exclusive access", reinstalled the audio driver, switched between DirectSound and MME and back again, and tried another audio device. I checked to ensure no other software was potentially modifying audio settings or accessing the any audio devices.

    Nothing, absolutely nothing, would allow me to record raw, unfiltered audio. Weird.

    This sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing, attempting to play flute over a Skype call. I have the same problem in Zoom. All sound of the flute is cut out, only my voice can be heard. I have changed the settings in the Communications tab to 'Do Nothing' but it makes no difference.
