How to disable noise suppression when an application is using the microphone.

I wrestled long and hard with this on a new Acer laptop. Tried all sorts of suggestions at driver level or in Zoom. In the end it was an app probably under Acer control: Realtek Audio Console. All speakers must have 'speakers noise cancellation' switched off, and all microphones have 'AI noise reduction' switched off.

It will be a different app name in other laptop makes, for example I saw a post where a Dell Inspiron needed MaxxAudio Pro to be tweaked in the same way.

They should not have set the music cancellation default to 'on' and then made it so hard to find, with neither Windows nor apps like Zoom giving any clue where to find it.

My computer sound suddenly back to normal, either one of these, or the combination of both, set it back without me realizing it..

1. Had a zoom meeting.
2. Had connected my computer to Logitech Conference System

After ending the zoom meeting and disconnected my computer from the Logitech system, the music (considered as noises before) is back on by built-in speaker. During the zoom meeting, the noise suppression is always on (as it normally happened).

BTW, my system is DELL Alienware X15 r2, Windows 11.

Hi Jake, I found your question because I was working on a problem with my new 34" HP Envy AIO. It's a beautiful machine, but my violin lessons on Zoom were ruined by all of the violin sound being cut out by the noise suppression. The solution by the Microsoft Agent did not work, but at the very bottom of the comments, there was a posting that involved using the Realtec Audio Console app. I didn't have that app on my computer, but I found that I had the Bang & Olufsen Audio Control app. I used the B&O app to turn off noise cancellation on all of my microphones and then tested them under the audio controls on Zoom. All of the sounds were back. Maybe you can find a similar solution on your device.

This is all very good news. I just bought the 34" HP Envy, and it is a beautiful machine, but the sound of my violin was cutting out during my Zoom lessons. After seeing Erop and Paul's conversation, I looked for an app and found that there was a Bang & Olufsen app on my machine. I turned off all noise cancellation on the app for all of my microphones and then tested them on Zoom. Now my sound is completely back. Then I set the equalizer for music. Probably don't need that for violin because it basically raises the bass, but maybe I'll take up bass guitar now. Now I think I'll set everything else back to default and see if it still sounds good.

I've finally sorted this thanks to your suggestion. In my case I looked in the Apps and found 'Realtek Audio Console'. I opened this, selected 'Microphone Array' and saw there were various options for 'Microphone Effects'. Changed 'Multi-presenter conference call' to 'Off' and music is no longer muted. Thanks so much! I guess for other people the software will be different but basically the issue is that microphone input is controlled not just by Windows sound settings but also by a separate app.
