Cant uninstall McAffee Security scan plus from Windows 10. Inside the Uninstall App page, buttons greyed out

I needed to install Adobe Viewer fast. Afterwards find it installed McAffee. popups, new network detected? no, it hasnt changed for years. McAfee is trash and is now locked on my PC like some parasite. its installed and will not be removed. There were 2, the other one "uninstalled", this one has grayed out keys.

Search online? they want you to run McAfees own removal tool? Sure, so that tool does what exactly? installs malware that stays silent. keyboard listener, etc

Search Microsoft only? volunteer moderators saying use McAfee tool, maybe they work for McAfee

Is there any real actual way to literally remove this malware? calling itself McAfee security scan?

Or then after saying all that I want to fully reinstall windows, because its unlikely anyone will know the answer, so in this modern Windows 10 world is there a fast way to remove windows, 0 the drive, new partition, new windows?

anyone know the answer to this?

There's an executable uninstaller in the McAfee folder at (Programs(X86)/McAfee. That worked for me when the Windows Control panel wouldn't allow it. Use admin privileges. Where does it ever end with the marketers making it easy to get into trials and as difficult as possible to get out of them?

    I was having the same problem. I went on McAfee website and the first thing it said to try was the following...

    1. in the search bar on your computer, type in the name of the program you are looking to uninstall.
    2. when the list of options pulls up, right click on the program itself in that list, while it's still in the search bar. It should give options, one of which is uninstall.
    3. once the next screen opens, find the program again in the next list and click uninstall/change. It should pop up a box that on the right says reinstall and, on the bottom, left has an uninstall option.

    I clicked uninstall and it was gone in seconds. This was after trying to install the McAfee product remover, amongst other recommended way to remove it.

    The uninstall app from the mcafee dir worked for me as well.

    However I agree with Bradley, that being forced to use that is not correct, there should be an OS solution.

    Mcafee should not be allowed by the OS to grey out their uninstall button. Apps that do that should be considered (by the OS, not just by us) as malware and blocked from installation.

    OMG Yes! Finally!! Thank you! Going to Program Filesx86 and then finding MCaffee folder and using the uninstall option there totally worked for me.
