how to display picture thumbnails windows 11

I bought a new desktop with Windows 11. My laptop has Windows 10. When I initially encountered this issue with my thumb nails, it was with my laptop. I discovered my OneDrive sync was the culprit and uninstalled OneDrive. When I set up my new desktop, I immediately uninstalled OneDrive. Since both the desktop & the laptop had different versions of Windows, the issue lies within OneDrive. There are many different cloud storages out there that people can use. Why not dump OneDrive and go with something like Google Drive???

for a lot of people one drive is against the law as you must keep your files with you and have full control, such as engineers, lawyers, doctors, etc.

That means that one drive is a liability and I never use it. It really is a con for people to pay someone to hold their information for a fee. I can pay a local source to store my backup and I still have control and it is 1/8 the cost.

That doesnt work and nothing else either! This is entirely caused by one drive and disabling doesnt allow the thumbnails to be seen either, windows is a total disaster

Well, whatever. I have many clients all running OneDrive daily. I use it every day on a couple of computers at my home office. Never have had this problem. As you should know, if your hard drive dies, your computer gets stolen, your house burns down, your files will be gone. OneDrive (or any cloud provider like it) protects you from that. OneDrive has never "removed my local access to my files". If you mean that some files are stored in the cloud until you need them, then yes, it can do that, but not without your permission.

I've used MSFT software for decades and really don't understand your comment that "Microsoft controlling everything on my computer." All MSFT software gives all of us a lot of control over what is on the machine and how to run it. That's one of the beauties of it over, say, the Apple system, which I also use for certain video editing tasks.

I've been having the same issue with .rw2 (Panasonic RAW) files, although things like .jpg/.tif/png work fine. I've installed the RAW image extension from the store and tried both of the below things, but it doesn't seem to work. It seems to work fine on my Windows 10 laptop, so assuming this is a Win11 only issue?
