Autopilot.dll WIL error

So this issue has been going on for almost a month now,event viewer is showing tons of these errors,i have 3 windows 10 installations and in each the error is there.Even tried to do a clean install on my main pc today to see if it would go away but to no effect.

This is the error:

Autopilot.dll WIL error was reported.

HRESULT: 0x80070491

File: onecoreuap\admin\moderndeployment\autopilot\dll\dllmain.cpp, line 178

Message: NULL

I searched a bit trough the comunity and found out that there are tons of people having the exact same problem.

    This is happening to me too, I discovered it when I was investigating why my PC had been freezing more and more lately. Event viewer says I've had 1522 errors in the past 7 days and 1334 of them have been "Autopilot.dll WIL error was reported...

    Hi Arkayne-:

    Just an aside, but that means you've had 188 errors in the past week that are unrelated to your Autopilot.dll WIL errors. If you haven't already done so you might want to run System File Checker (sfc /scannow) and DISM commands like Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth from an elevated command prompt as instructed in the ghacks.net article Use DISM to Fix Issues SFC Can't to see if those scans can find any issues with your Windows system files, just in case your system freezes have nothing to do with your Autopilot.dll WIL errors.

    I was able to stop the Autopilot.dll WIL errors on my Win 10 machine by clearing my Trusted Plaltform Module (TPM) - see my 03-Mar-2023 post on page 2 of in SageGhost's thread AutoPilot.dll WIL error was reported Event 1010 - Causes Crashing/Issues Any fix? for further details (and please read the warnings in that post about clearing your TPM if BitLocker disk encryption is enabled). If I recall correctly my Autopilot.dll WIL errors were not logged in my Windows Reliability Monitor, so if you have a Win 10 or Win 11 OS you might want to check your Reliability Monitor to see if it is logging other errors that could be related to your system freezes.

    Using sfc /scannow I find that autopilot.dll is repeatedly having to be repaired, having failed verification testing. So something is modifying that code, and MS finds the result in error.

    Does anyone know what could modify the code? My use is primarily surfing, email, and simple stuff. No program downloads for quite some time. Today, I found that sfc's within 3 minutes of each other, the autopilot.dll had to be repaired. In that three minutes I read somethings on the MSN start page.

    It will resolved by windows update. Please do update. And check crashed error in windows reliability view. You can find out the error cause.

    Please clarify. Do you mean you have evidence that Microsoft finally released a bug fix that will prevent these ModernDeployment-Diagnostics-Provider / Autopilot.dll WIL errors from being logged in the Windows Event Viewer, or do you mean that Rebabl's crashes are likely unrelated to this bug and that running Windows Update to patch their system with the June 2023 Patch Tuesday updates (released 13-Jun-2023) might stop Rebabl's crashes?

    The only way I was able to stop these Autopilot.dll WIL errors on my Win 10 laptop was to clear my TPM (Trusted Platform Module). See my 03-Mar-2023 post <here> on page 8 of this thread about potential problems you might encounter if you clear the TMP on a computer that has BitLocker Disk Encryption enabled and don't know your 48-digit BitLocker recovery key.

    I won't be much help here. I looked through my event viewer just now and didn't find any autopilot errors. There are other errors, but none reference autopilot within. I can't recall all the changes I've made. I get numerous updates from MS for W10 and MS365; and virus protection downloads. I have added some 3rd party software as trials, and then removed them. And so forth. But nothing I could assign to the absence of autopilot errors.

    +1 I just had the same issue for the first time on my Razer Blade laptop and Windows 10; in the sense that it caused a hard crash for the first time and I was forced to hold down my offswitch to turn off the laptop. Was simply writing up an e-mail in Outlook as it happened.
