Now KB5015814 won't install

I wanted to state that this method works!

I too had the issue with the two updates but decided to wait until after "patch Tuesday" before jumping on the reinstall windows option.... Maybe Microsoft will actually fix a problem.

Imagine my angst when, on Tuesday, I now had THREE UPDATES that wouldn't install. Thanks Microsoft!

Thank you for this thread! For me I had to 1) disable all Real-Time Protection features of Malware Bytes: Web Protection, Malware Protection, Ransomware Protection and Expliot Protection and 2) open Windows Features control panel, then uncheck .NET Framework 3.5. After a restart and a few pop-up messages from programs which probably required .Net 3.5, I was able to install updates KB5015814, followed by KB5015882. I then re-enabled .NET 3.5 framework and Malwarebytes Real-Time Protection features. Windows update is finally clean after the last 1+ month, and a bunch of useless generic YouTube vides.

...., I decided to give it a try and I can say that (with a few more reboots than suggested in the article) this method absolutely works. My PC is now all caught up again.

I do hope that this will not be something that I (and all of you) will have to do every time from now on... we'll see.

Well color me surprised. It worked for me too this time. The install paused for a long time at 25% and 69% but it did install successfully.

Someone early on in the KB5014668 failure discussion said it was MB but he deleted all his posts soon afterwards and some people said they tried the install with MB removed completely from their PC and it didn't work so I discounted that as the solution and never tried it. And my initial failure was before MB 4.5.10.200 was issued.

I did notice today that the failed notification in my install history did not show the failed install for yesterday before I started. Did MS do something overnight? In any case, Calawide implied he didn't have MB. So is this really the answer or does it go deeper??

Keep posting on successes or failures and whether you even have Malwarebytes installed so it might be determined that truly was/is the problem.

I tried the manual update and the in place upgrade with KB5014668. Neither worked. I rolled back the upgrade after it didn't work. I haven't tried anything yet other than Windows Troubleshooter for this update and it didn't work. The problem I have with doing the upgrade is I use Macrium Reflect and doing the upgrade or rolling it back causes all the backups to reset as if it was seeing a new drive and starts their sequences again. I can restore the PC to either June 20 before the patch came out and I already had a successful 2nd Tuesday June update or can restore to June 1. But again, this would be a last resort if MS can't figure out what's happening. I'm not sure restoring either will make a difference until someone figures out what the common thread is for the failures.

That's why I was hoping an Advisor here might know what's happening.

The general fixes for Windows Update are not indicated if it's installing any Updates.

Instead let's find the specific fixes for those Updates starting with the two I gave you in my last post. Have you all tried those? How about the Manual install? This works about half the time, can even solve bottlenecks.

I could install KB5014668 (Was not offered to me last month on system I installed it on)...No problem installing that...

But still cannot install KB5015814 on that same system. Have not tried on the other problem systems.

BTW, one of the systems that won't install KB5015814 is a new HP Windows 11 Laptop (TPM, Secure Boot) purchased a month ago...
