Hello,

My wife and I recently started seeing some emails in code. We both use Yahoo Mail. She has Window 10 and I have 11. Does anyone have a possible solution to fix this? These emails are from trusted sources and sometimes they are not in code. Any help appreciated!

Thank You!

Thank you so much, Greg. My daughter-in-law forwarded your message to me after learning that I have had this same e-mail problem. I did send a comment to the Feedback Hub, including my case number and how the Microsoft employees had actually misdiagnosed the problem. Appreciate your comments!

I have experimented a little with this problem and although it doesn't address the issue regarding Windows Mail it had some surprising developments. I have four email accounts in the Windows Mail app but it was the Rocketmail (Yahoo) account where I first experienced the code. So I visited my account on the web and discovered the email was as it should be. I decided to forward this to my Gmail account and opened it in the Windows Mail app. Hey Presto!! The mail could be read as intended.

The question now was ... could it be Windows Mail causing the problem? I decided to uninstall the Windows Mail app, restart my PC and then reinstall the app. Of course, it also meant that I would need to go back and add each of my email accounts into Windows Mail. Having done this I forwarded the email from Gmail to Rocketmail and it worked, the email could be read So, where do I stand now? Is the Windows Mail app to blame? I leave that to the Microsoft team to fathom out!!

It seems very obvious to me that Microsoft have absolutely no interest in the concerns expressed here and I doubt they will ever resolve the issue. For those who are unable to access their emails in the correct format via the Windows Mail app I would suggest you do what I do ... visit the Yahoo website and access your email directly through that channel. I only have the issue that is being discussed here when I try to open my email through the Windows Mail app so I have now removed the Yahoo account from that app. I feel Microsoft are not interested, at least, not when they can't make money out of it!

I have the same problem, but it's not just random it's almost every email and very frustrating.

Why isn't this a priority for MS since it's sure a priority for us users who trusted and adopted your product!!!

I have the same issue and followed Greg Carmacks advice - I have reported this via Feedback Hub showing a sample of the code. I wonder how long it will take for Microsoft to respond?

Replied on June 18, 2022 Hello Johnsons. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

There is a bug in Windows Mail right now where certain emails are arriving in HTML code. It appears to be random and doesn't affect the onilne mail provider so you can read the email intact there. I am receiving about one to two of these emails out of a dozen or more a day.

If you want to report this bug to Microsoft you may be able to help improve this product/experience by using the Feedback Hub in Start Menu. While they will probably not see this here in the forums, Microsoft developers DO read feedback from customers that comes in via the Feedback Hub. and this may speed up getting this fixed.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
