Canon Printer not responding after windows 11 update. Other Windows 10 PC has no problem printing to same printer

Sometime after updating to Win 11 my Canon printer does not respond to my print request. I tried printing from another Windows 10 PC and the printer is still responding to it. So there is no issue with the printer as the message would indicate. What needs to be done to get my printer to print from my windows 11 updated HP PC.

    I am on Windows 11 on a Dell XPS 8960 desktop - my printer is a color imageclass MF656cdw - Initially, when I installed the Canon driver for Windows 11 wireless - it worked. When the IP address changed on the printer - it stopped. After trying to reload the new driver, it still souldn't work. Tried to follow the process for setting up the printer on USB connect - doesn't work. The printer works fine off ?Windows 10 or from my Iphone 13pro. I think the Canon's drivers are not working from windows 11. Ideas???

    You're awesome Ian. Thank you so much. You saved my business. I really needed my printer to work to print shipping labels for Christmas orders. Without this golden advice, I'd be stuck running my old broken down pc just to print labels (which would suck).

    ZERO THANKS to Microsoft for reinventing the old W10 administrator lock out issue with a new "System" lockout. FFS, let us run our own gear you BLEEPING control freaks!

    The W11 diganose/repair function was useless for my USB printer. Just got hung up. Ian's solution (plus the CMD force driver deletion advice from pureinfotech) was what got me across the line.

    This was helpful. I'll add that I also had difficulty removing the first installation of the printer driver (mine was not a Canon model but a third party thermal USB printer). The old problems with Windows 10 not giving pc owners administrator powers have not been resolved by Microsoft. Now they have "System" access that gets denied. Why Microsoft can't just let people manage their own equipment blows my mind. Link below to a video on using Powershell to force driver removal. Note: his instructions are running from C:/ whereas my CMD screen was sitting at C:/System32 but that actually was right because that's the drive the printer drivers were in.

    With the advice above, after running ALL updates (there were several), I then used the Add Device installation process to add my printer again (while it was plugged in and powered on) and I'm now functioning. ONLY TOOK A WHOLE DAY TO SORT OUT MICROSOFT!!!!
