Canon Printer not responding after windows 11 update. Other Windows 10 PC has no problem printing to same printer

thank you for responding. When I log onto the canon website there are 3 choices . See Below. I chose the second option. Is this correct?

OMG, thank you Ian !!! I had an HP for 7 years and it worked with my Canon printer. I got a new laptop a month ago, and yesterday I went to try to print to the Canon and had the printer not responding. I couldn't tell if it was the new laptop or if it was because I went to Windows 11. I was so frustrated and thought I'd have to either get a new printer or in my immediate need find a Staples or something. I tried everything. And then came across your post. It worked!!! Thank you!

This is how I solved it (Windows 11 & Canon Pixma MP250)

1. Turn on the printer, plug it in to the PC via USB.
2. Open Device Manager. Probably your printer isn't under "Print queues"; thus it is not (yet) recognized as a printer by the pc.
3. Check under "Software devices" - I found my printer there.
4. Right click your printer, select "Update driver"
5. Choose the option to update the driver automatically.
6. Hopefully the driver will be updated and the printer will now be recognized by the system; you'll now see it under Print queues, and it will show up under available devices when you're printing a document.

Regarding scanning: It's possible the Windows Scan app on Windows Store will be incompatible with the printer. Instead go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > select your printer > More devices and printers settings > Right click on your printer and select "Start scan".
