Can't access bios or advanced startup on windows 11

let me walk u through this.

im trying to set up the Wake on lan so i have to set smth at the bios

1. upgrade to win 11, no motherboard logo can be seen when starting desktop, no screen when entered the recovery mode
2. came to this thread
3. tried the fps limit way= didnt work
4. tried to limit the resolution from 2K down to 1080x1920= didnt work
5. tried all bunch of stuffs , turn off screen bla bla bla (Dont have an hdmi cable So.... gotta findd anotherr way out)
6. my final way to sneak into the bios is to unplug and pull out the motherboard battery So i can somehow get in once( the black screen will happend after this procedure, so its a one time thing.)

downloaded that thing and it just came back, the motherrboard logo, recovery mode, no more blackscreen

however after i downloaded it , it shows ddownload fail but it still fix the bios thing... idk it worth take a shot tho

Notice: my monitor will keep change the default input when booting to recovery mode.(tunedd to DP, reboot, auto selected to HDMI)

IDK why and make surre u check ur screen when fixing it. Maybe it is just a input problem.

I was having this same problem, on a relatively new PC with Nvidia Card. I tried three different monitors, and they all would have a black screen when I used either "Shift+Restart" or using the Restart function in the Settings. Hitting enter key repeatedly sometimes would take me back to the regular windows startup, but no way to access bios.

Here's what worked for me:

Fortunately the motherboard in this PC had a "flashback" feature, that easily allows you to flash the motherboard back to its original (non-windows polluted!) bios.

The motherboard is an AsRock 690 4/5D ... I think other AsRock motherboards have this same feature. Basically you download a file, rename it, then put it on a flash drive, and push a button on the back of the PC (with the power off) and this flashes the BIOS. Here are the instructions I followed.

Immediately after doing this, I got the ASRock logo on reboot and was able to enter BIOS by pushing f2 AND now I can install Ubuntu! I'm NEVER using windows again ... this adventure was my first time using Windows in years, and it was a pretty horrible experience!

Hope this helps someone ... I think the underlying problem here is Windows 11 implementation of UEFI; seems half baked based on all these comments.

I found the solution by changing HDMI cable from my monitor to my tv and also I changed my HZ from 60 to 50 and worked.

It's a display issue. I changed from a digital cable to an HDMI cable and the screen was there all the time but Un-displayed over DVI.

I’ll give that a try. Is it a hardware issue with Windows 11 or what?
