Can't access bios or advanced startup on windows 11

so i found a way to fix this i had this issue for almost 5 months now , so what i did is when i click restart holding the shift key i turn off the monitor i wait for about 10 seconds ( depends on how fast your pc is on restarting )

when the pc boots up again i turn the monitor back on and this time i get display and everything works fine

extra note : i switched my refresh rate to 60hz and did all of the above

another fix for this is that i when i use my old amd6700 gpu it works perfectly fine and loads into bios normally

so try using your built in gpu if you dont have an extra gpu

You’re experiencing the same issues and levels of frustration/regret as I am with Windows 11. I cannot believe Microsoft haven’t sorted this out as yet. When will they address the issue? Are they even aware of it? If you figure out a solution please share. Good luck.

So it seems this is not an uncommon issue with windows 11, during boot up screen is black. If I try to restart into the advanced startup or access BISO I can not see anything because the screen is black. Once the windows login screen appears I can see everything fine and I can log in no issues. What I have tried so far is:

• Setting the framerate of the graphics to 60Hz
• Ensuring Project is set to pc screen only
• Ensured my bios is up-to-date along with my graphics drivers and all over drivers
• I tried repairing MBR
• I have the latest windows 11 updates
• I ensured there are no viruses or malware or trojans

I know it's not a hardware issue as everything was fine before I upgraded to windows 11 from 10 and it's only during bootup. All the fixes online suggest rebooting into advanced recovery mode but I can't do that because of the black screen (even if I choose the advanced reboot from windows 11 it just goes to a black screen), even if I try plugging in A USB with an iso or windows 10 recovery I can not see anything to select the option to use it or change the default boot order. The only thing I have not tried so far is to use the CMOS to flash my motherboard bios back to its default version but I have a laptop so taking it apart is not only not ideal and carries many risks but I am confident it will not help, its some issue with windows 11 that so far despite others suffering Microsoft have not been able to fix.

The worst part is I can't even roll back to windows 10 because of the black screen. My Pc's not old or particularly low performance as I have an I7 11th gen, 2Tb SSD's 32Gb ram & G-Force graphics card. after exhausting all the help online I turned to here in the hope someone knew of a fix that does not rely on using the advanced recovery option because that is useless when you can't see anything.

I tried plugging in a secondary monitor through the HDML hoping that might work but no dice

if anyone ever works this out please please come back here and let the rest of us know ...I really wish I hadn't upgraded to windows 11 now, I knew it was a bad idea

Glad you got yours sorted. I've tried with and without my graphics card, changed monitors, cables the lot - nothing works. I am truly at my wits end with it now.

Got your message Agiles69. took my computer to repair shop and they made a liar out of me. told them the problem and they couldn't replicate the error. It worked perfectly apparently it was only the cable to my monitor causing the problem, So i changed it from a display port to hdmi cable and it booted to Windows RE, So not sure if its the monitor (The High Hz display) or the graphics card (The actual ports) causing the issue. Just happy to finally be able to access Window RE, i am going to try changing the setting in bios from auto to gen 3 for the pcie slot for the graphics card to see if that is causing the issue.
