MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7922 (RZ616)

MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7922 (RZ616) driver keeps crashing and I get an error message this device cannot start. (code 10). This has been happening pretty often and I have even tried a full factory reset. The issue still persists. I have reinstalled the driver multiple times and still face the issue. The temporary fix is to do a power cycle.

Kindly provide a permanent solution if anyone has one. I am using an Asus ROG Stix G17 (2022) and Windows 11.

I had the same issue, but figured out the cause. I narrowed it down to Windows Power Management. Seems when Windows puts the Wi-Fi card to sleep it can no longer communicate with the device or even wake it up. So I disabled power saving for this device and I no longer have issues with it anymore.

To disable power saving for the Wi-Fi here are the steps.

1. Open Device Manager
2. Select your Wi-Fi device, should be under Network Adapters mine is the Media Tek Wi-Fi 6E MT7922 (RZ616) 160MHz Wireless LAN Card
3. Right Click Properties
4. Go to Advanced Tab
5. Select Power Saving
6. Changed Value to Disabled
7. Go to Power Management Tab
8. Unchecked Allow the Computer to turn off this device to save power
9. Click OK Button

It solved my problem which was that my Wireless LAN card was not operational. Wi-Fi working again. Yay! Thanks a lot!

Honestly, if anybody is experiencing issues with their MediaTek WiFi card, I would just recommend swapping it out for an Intel AX210; I never had any issues with Intel's WiFi cards, and are also very inexpensive. It's also like installing an NVMe device.

Wi-Fi card is already built in ..unless you are looking to attach an external USB Wi-Fi, which is not recommended. Also ASUS doesn’t offer any customisation on the selection of the Wi-Fi card ..at least not in India. Looks like it’s a global issue so I would suggest to return and do with Dell laptops.
