MSN account blocked due to user name.

Like you, I was contemplating setting up a new profile, but I agree with you, it was not worth the hassle, given I have only 1 email account for starters.

I am not optimistic I will get to post again after the latest 30-day ban which has been imposed, since I've been waiting since 20th July when the initial ban was put into place. I am thinking more and more that MSN just decide to ban people on a whim. I genuinely would very much like to know how my real name does not "meet guidelines", and I think that myself, and others deserve a proper explanation.

I also notice that a reply to me was deleted...... you guessed it, " it didn't meet our guidelines" unquote. I am left wondering what horror the person said to me!!!

l spent well over an hour today trying to follow what CB had mentioned about signing out and then signing in again with a slightly different name but did not know exactly how to do this. I was all over the website yet again, trying to see how to do this, and finally ended up with more complications. When I tried to put in my details again, I was told that my contact email they had was actually my son's email (he certainly does not post, although he does have an account with MSN). When I tried to put my email address as my account verification - they already have had my email address for a long time - I was told that I am now having to wait 30 days to have my "identity verified"!!! What is that all about?? So, not only am I now barred from commenting on posts, I have to wait for a month to be "vetted". I truly cannot understand how this can happen; they already have my own email address, (it even came up on the screen as my bona fide email!!) and my mobile number, but just because I tried to "explore" a little further into their crazy set-up, this is what has happened.

I TOTALLY agree with you their "contact us" is a farce. I am glad it is not just me who cannot find even one link that may be helpful. There is no real option for us to actually get in touch with someone who may provide us with an answer. I actually think they do not want to interact, try to explain how their operation works, or actually care that we may have queries. I now feel their website is designed to put us off from contacting, or making our views known. To me it has to be one of the most user-unfriendly websites ever.

IF, and I say if without much positivity, you manage to get through their barriers, I would appreciate if you could let me know. Many thanks. Jo.

@C B - thanks for confirming that your real name was also a problem. I can't understand that it could have been due to your point of view as it would probably not been posted, and you would have received the "old chestnut" message that you needed to re-word it. I appreciate that forums have to have moderators as certainly there can be some risqué or indeed nasty comments, but I would have expected that those undertaking moderating would at least have a modicum of sense. I continue to request reviews, Have chalked up another 3, have lost count of the full total.

Also, thanks for the tip - may as well give it a go, as I've tried everything else!! Even tried to set up another account, but they insisted I set up another email account, which I neither need nor want.

I also notice that the link I wrote in one of my replies has been scored out, re-typed by "someone" with the explanation it is for "MSN Premium or MSN Dial Up" so seems whoever gave me this link did so in error, and perhaps, as I don't have MSN Premium that is why I yet again went around in circles!! Must admit, would be nice to get a response! Won't hold my breath of course.

Your suggestion about it being a bug could make sense. Like you, I was told on 21st July that my review was successfully overturned and the old worn-out phrase "be able to post again soon"! You are also correct in that there is not a human to whom you can state your problem and discuss it. As I mentioned before, I have tried on several occasions to find somewhere to contact on the company website, but I just went round in circles, and finally ended up where I stated. Will now write an example but try not to fall asleep during reading it!!! For me it is a load of gobbledegook now. As I've also said before, why bother giving people the facility to post our views, when it doesn't seem to work properly.
