Thumbnails not showing Windows 11 - Pictures folder

Hi there,

So in my Pictures folder, I used to see all the images as thumbnails, as I should.

Now, some images are showing as usual, then there's a bunch not showing.

All I did was update Windows, sheesh, it's like living in a rocket with Microsoft, one moment you're headed in the right direction, galaxy etc, next you're hurtling into the Sun.

BTW, I've tried all the "fixes", open options, open properties, make sure x is unchecked, delete storage cache, temporary that is and and other, sdn scan, I mean what else is there?

Wouldn't you think Microsoft would want you to see your images as a thumbnail? Seems logical to me, anywho, does anyone know (coz Microsoft doesn't) what fix there is to get the annoying issue sorted? Or, better still, what download cleaner rearranger there is to force a user to enjoy their Windows 11 experience. (Rhetorical)

    Tried all the suggestions...

    ... Options, check box off. Nope

    ... Cleared thumbnail cache... Nope

    ...

    Finally... I went into onedrive and made sure everything was completely synced (all folders with solid green dots and white check mark)... Then I uninstalled OneDrive and magically, my thumbnails reappeared immediately.

    Then I re-installed OneDrive using the same folders and the thumbnails are still showing correctly for View-->medium, large and XL icons. Thumbnails show correctly for all 3 sizes.

    Only took 10 minutes to uninstall/reinstall. Frustrating though.

    Just uninstall "One Drive" - You'll have all your thumbnails restored.

    Of course use some type of alternate backup for your computer

    Yes, did that a few hours after researching a fix. Found out uninstalling IS the fix.

    Win 11, with all the updates hides/changes all the settings screens. which is actually stupid.
    Open settings/ system. advanced system settings and adjust the performance- in the list you will find the
    "use thumbnails instead of icons"
    Check it an it's done.

    How do I uninstall OneDrive? Most all of my files are on OneDrive. I do not know why they are on OneDrive. It seems that if ever I download it goes to my computer's storage and to OneDrive but if I ever want to open that file I have to wait for it to download. Such a round-a -bout. My thumbnails have changed to all icons so I would like to uninstall OneDrive but do not have enough storage space on my laptop for all the files that are on OneDrive. Any suggestions?
