My Win 11 PC won't wake up from sleep using the keyboard or mouse.

I built the computer using the MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI DDR4 motherboard. When none of the suggestions in this thread worked I started poking around in the BIOS as I had seen some advanced power management options while setting up the computer.

Go to (or try to find an equivalent):

Settings->Advanced->Wake Up Event Setup->Wake Up Event By: set this option to 'BIOS' (I tried using the 'OS' option, but it didn't seem to work)

Settings->Advanced->Wake Up Event Setup->Resume By USB Device: set this option to 'Enabled' (This will automatically enable the Settings->Advanced->Power Management Setup->USB Standby Power At S4/S5)

My MOBO is also MSI but another model, yet this fixed the issue!
That BIOS section also had options to enable or disable Mouse and Keyboard waking up the system.

Definitely something MSI should look into and have these options set properly by default.

Thanks. This worked on my MSI A320M-A PRO MAX motherboard. Wish I'd seen this earlier because it would have saved me some time and effort fiddling around in Windows.

I believe I have found the definitive solution to this problem. You need to actually locate which device is your mouse/keyboard and allow it to wake the computer from sleep mode. Unfortunately, this is an issue that affects many users and there isn't an easy solution from Windows, even in the most recent versions.

1. Press Windows + R and type devmgmt.msc - This will open Device Manager
2. Look for Human Interface Devices and locate your keyboard/mouse device. If you don't know exactly which one it is, you can try disabling all of them and, through the process of elimination, find yours.
3. Right-click on the device and click on properties, then click on the power management tab and uncheck - The computer can turn off the device to save power.
4. Do this with all keyboard/mouse devices. They may be located in other categories such as "Mouse and other pointing devices".

Didn't work on my desktop PC with MSI A320M-A PRO MAX motherboard.

I found the issue happened when I have a USB hub plugged in (whether or not the mouse and keyboard were through the hub or directly plugged into the computer). Set Windows to Power On / Off USB Devices in Sleep Mode | Password Recovery (****) describes how to disable USB power off during sleep.

Some of the posts are using these terms interchangeably. I am not. My keyboard/mouse combo uses the 2.4GHz Logitech unifying receiver.

@Rob: You are not the only one that has posted about bluetooth keyboards/mice not waking the computer up. I don't have any bluetooth keyboards/mice so I can't test this.

Be aware of the two different ways to connect bluetooth. I would imagine that if your desktop/laptop/tablet has built-in bluetooth capabilities then a connected bluetooth keyboard/mouse would be able to wake the device. I don't know that it would work for anyone who uses a USB bluetooth adapter.

If the power to the USB ports is indeed on (in S4/S5) state when the computer is asleep you would think your bluetooth input device would be able to wake the computer if you use a USB bluetooth adapter. Though, I wonder if the problem isn't in the hardware. Windows may not process bluetooth input while asleep. I wasn't able to confirm if that is the case or not. In the case of the BIOS handling the wake feature, it may not be programmed to recognize or pay attention to bluetooth input. When looking through my BIOS, there were no settings at all that mentioned bluetooth even though it is built-in to my motherboard.
