Windows 11 does not detect my Nvidia graphics card

Hi,

I have been using Windows 11 for quite some time, Suddenly one day I see my secondary Nvidia graphics card is not detected. Its not displayed in Device manager (even if I select "show hidden devices").

Also, in device manager below System component is showing error code 10.

intel pcie controller x16 1901

I tried reinstalling graphics card driver. Driver reinstallation does not detect my Nvidia graphics card.

I tried updating driver for above PCIe controller. But is already up to date.

I have not changed anything in BIOS. I tried defaulting the Bios values but dint work. ( My Nvidia card is detected in BIOS, only windows 11 has problem)

I tried backing out recent windows updates, dint work. I again updated all latest updates and optional driver updates suggested, dint work.

Since the card is detected in Bios, I am assuming its not an issue with hardware.

I have been doing some research, and in many places I see the PCIe controller issue associated with detection of graphics card.

Please help me resolve this issue.

If you are using a Surface Book 3, I had the same problem. I tried all the ideas you posted with no luck.

THE SOLUTION

The solution turned out to be simple and quick. Detach and reattach your screen.

TL;DWannaR: Issue resolved itself after

Setting AMD Adrenaline to STANDARD, and ensuring Armoury Crate was also on STANDARD.

NVIDIA booted back up after doing both.

The below is a longwinded description of this, mostly for reference; which is why I left it all in.

Full disclosure, I have not read replies past the first page, but I'm also not asking for help. This is just to help add information.

My PC started having the same issue today 02/02/2025, but I have also been clearing files, so this one may be my fault.

Except, that I recently updated windows 11 on Friday night if I recall correctly; and the update messed my display settings up, setting them back to stock settings.

I set my display back to my liking yesterday, and saw the message today when I went to check on other settings.

The kicker: AMD Adrenaline, and Armoury Crate both detected the NVIDIA.

UPDATE: I might have found the issue causing this to happen, and it happened while typing the above.

Prior to typing this I checked device manager, and the above programs, and saw NVIDIA GPU listed; but while typing this, rechecked on AMD Adrenaline (which I activated in the initial check) and saw it was now using the CPUs integrated graphics card. The NVIDIA GPU was also no longer visible in device manager, or Armoury Crate.

I went back into Adrenaline, and switched the settings to Standard, closed the app, made sure I was NOT on GPU mode in Armoury Crate, and closed that too.

I went to open up NVIDIA Control Panel, and after a short period of LAG, booted right back up; with the settings as I'd left them.

I reinstalled windows 11 and this cleared all my problems.

I was apprehensive about this at first, but it turned out to be easy and I did not lose any files. It not only solved the issue I was having with my NVIDIA 4070 not being recognized, but also solved several other problems I was having with other applications.
