Why does my snipping tool no longer bring up the pop up image to edit?

Yup... just stopped working again for me now.

Think I might have to do the same and download another.

Make sure that "Do Not Disturb" is not switched on (you can find the icon in the top right of your notifications panel).

I found that if DND is switched on, the snipping tool would auto minimise after taking the screenshot.

As soon as DND was turned off, it would pop up in front of other windows as I would expect.

**EDIT: Nevermind... it's stopped working again GRRR.

Yeah, after I posted that it worked for me, it went back to being minimized all the time again.

I gave up and downloaded a different snipping tool.

**EDIT 2: Oh, it does work BUT there is more to it. By default windows 11 is set to automatically turn on DND when using an app in full screen mode. As Snipping tool runs in full screen mode, it is turning DND on its self! To fix it go to:

Settings --> System --> Notifications --> Turn on do not disturb automatically

And make sure that "When using an app in full screen mode" is NOT checked.

On July 12, 2023 I had MS 365 installed. Had to change the passwords on every single app I use. Almost a month later and I'm still discovering things.

Re: Snippet tool I still use [Shift + Windows + S] to get the prompt. I no longer get an pop up like before (and I've tried everything) - I just know it's there. I open a Word document and hit [Control + V] and paste the image there.

I later discovered that if I Right Click the actual image it gives me a menu and I can "Save as picture" which sends me to my filing system. It says Picture 1, 2, 3 and so on and I give it a label.

It's different, it's more steps, but it's working. As I progress with this new system, I'll keep testing.

Dear Microsoft, please restore the snipping tool to its original functionality, where upon snipping, the captured screen (or screen portion) present on top of my other windows, rather than going to the background like it now does. Very inconvenient! Thanks.
