hi

i have a fresh installed system, with:

motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II

Nvidia 3060 v2

i have a classic 5.1 with 3 connectors, my issue is that only if a game for example cyberpunk 2077 and when i use VLC i can hear that all 5.1 channels are woking fine.

but, everywere else on the system the 5.1 doesn't work, like, firefox, spotify, netflix windows app etc...

i tried to changange some settings but nothing changed, tried to reinstall to, change the drivers but nothing to do.

tried to change setting on the Realtheck Audio Control programm, it's worst the i immagined ... the dB setting, the distance and all whe switches are not working

the only way to change the dB was to change it in the advanced audio proprieties.

My issue is that the surround system is not working with firefox, spotify and onther programs.

I have searched on the web since 1 month, and i'm writing here for desparation, because i can't find a solution for this mistery.

thanks in advice

Pat

really ............................ don't know how to let you understand that it was so from the beginning ....

befor posting i did all the test, tests without modifing drivers or core sistem setting, just trying all the toggles and testing the audio in all kind of configuration.

after avery test i set it to default.

after some trys i took the screenshots so as the default options where provided to me from a fresh install.

Your screenshots on page 1 meant nothing. You can toggle every switch on those page 1 screenshots, the function is not even there.

You didn't even acknowledge the existence of the upmix feature in sonic studio 3 until I pointed it out. Now you are trying to defend yourself ex post facto.

And if your netflix windows app is not giving you 5.1 when your cyberpunk and vlc are giving you 5.1, then your system is seriously messed up and you need to nuke your system.

    2. nuking the pc is not a solution, it's the extreme arazio and it will be done only if the pc stops working.

I didn't read everything here but to get multi-channel, stuff has to be in multi-channel and use multi-channel even when in multi-channel.

Its always been a royal pain since forever which is why I bought a receiver that can upmix to 5.1 or 7.1 especially when things just won't do it and its just one setting on the receiver and I'm happy enough as it sounds great :)

Eg Firefox has to be using mutl-channel and capable of it, the website's player in Firefox has to be using multi-channel and capable of it, and the media has to be using multi-channel and capable of it. That's on top of your sound hardware, its driver, and its software, and Windows settings, and anything else such as a receiver.

Just because you put the sound device software into multi-channel or Windows into multi-channel doesn't mean you will get multi-channel in the end result to your ears.

So, if you play a game that only offers stereo for instance then you will only get stereo no matter what you do unless you use upmix such as with a receiver that offers it.

Don't know if that helps. Have fun!

    1. because you showed us every single screenshots in your initial post that are irrelevant to the actual feature that needs to be turned on manually, which proved the point that it wasn't turned on manually and would therefore not play stereo audio sources in the rear speakers.

You seem to think 5.1 computer speakers are like car stereo in that you listen to music and the front speakers in the front doors would make sound and the rear speakers in the rear doors would make sound automatically. No, that's not it. You have to manually turn it on which by the screenshots you provided in your initial post didn't even know the existence of such function until I pointed it point.

    1. of course nuking the pc is an extreme solutions, that's why I am only suggesting this extreme solution after me providing you help for 4 pages, after multiple tech support from asus and spotify giving you the cold shoulder.

Netflix on internet browsers can't do 5.1. If netflix the windows app can't do 5.1 on your computer even after you set your computer to 5.1, then there is something seriously wrong with your system.

    1. did I say you f'd up? No, I said you listened to the wrong people.

Do you think I suggest to you nuke your computer because I know precisely how you screwed up your system and not tell you how to fix it the correct way? It is precisely the opposite, no help from tech support, there are a million combinations of things that could go wrong by randomly listening to internet help. You kept on arguing about point (1) showed us precisely that you don't understand the problem and therefore will never figure out how to fix this problem on your own.
